  1. It wasn't this one was it?
  2. I think more and more I like the VeeJay work as much as the Blue Note, but I chose Night Dreamer. I listen to less and less Wayne, but this one I listen to most often the last few years. Love the JRVG.
  3. All those Verve jams will be great to have on cd, and I believe only the one including Parker was officially released on cd (I could be wrong). I've enjoyed them for a while. Not ground-breaking, but great to hear, and different (to my ears at least) than the JATP performances. . . a bit less "grandstanding". . . . ("Grantzstanding?") All the Jazztet material will be great to have under one roof as well, especially done the "Mosaic way"!
  4. They are rather hard to find. Are you lookingfor the lps or will cds do? Song of Singing was a cd I believe, Profile was a Japanese RVG cd. Odyssey of Isaka was on cd several times domestically. They may actually be easier to find than the lps. Or not--I have not been lp hunting in some time, so I am unable to really assess the process. If you are willing to settle for "digital reproductions" of these, send me a private message, I can help you out with these "digital reproduction" wise.
  5. Well, I registered there, and even got a message from administration with my name and password. . . . But when I log in it won't take those and tells me someone already has that name and password. Yes, that would be ME. Oh well.
  6. The only Rhino Handmade I've experienced so far is the Percy Mayfield. . . A MAGNIFICENT cd release. I never heard these Atlantic sides sound so good! And great music with "the Genius" on hand for about 85%.
  7. Sheesh. Now the other half has arrived. I'll let you know if I see something funny.
  8. Okay whatever weiz. I haven't seen Danny's outrageous behavior because it hasn't been on threads where I have been. And if I ever see a post of yours I consider funny, I'll be sure to point it out. Stick a cigar in it and have a good one. What you know of Texans could fill a thimble!
  9. Hey Mr. Bullybobble, I'm not a leader here. I'm just another poster, like your real registered persona. DEEP happens to be a friend of mine. I haven't had an itch to say one untoward word his way since he arrived on this board. So much for big insight.
  10. Ah hell, just buy all the Art Hodes, Albert Ammons, James P. Johnson, and Pete Johnson you can find. B)
  11. I'd say the Bird at the Half Note and the McLean are the first two to get. I like the Green, have had an lp burn for years, but it's not as essential as several others.
  12. Hey Bobblehead, sure, it probably could use some "babes" on that board but I won't be starting a thread. I guess pictures of beautiful women offend you the way that failed attempts at wise guy humor and dissing almost everyone like a school yard bully offends me.
  13. Well, the Blue Note of Lion and Woff's era is one of my favorite record labels; the EMI property and its management I don't feel the same way about at all. I agree it was the actions of members (not necessarily those residing here) that brougth the board to closure. I think that the way the management of the board, or the lack of same, brought about the closing so abrubtly sucked. But I don't really harbor any resentment against them. I'll check out their European version and an American one if it surfaces. But if Dr. Bobblekoph and Red Meanie are going to hang out there a lot, I won't!
  14. FOUND ANOTHER ONE!
  15. The room really is a lot of it indeed. My father has a Victrola in Ohio and I love to listen to it!
  16. Chuck: steam it all off. Silvertone au naturel.
  17. I agree with Jac. To me it does matter what I listen to, but it doesn't matter to me what you listen to.

    Barney Wilen

Very acoustic, very up front in the recording. It's a good 'un.
  19. TOD, So happy it's your birthday! MANY MORE HAPPY ONES! B)
  20. Too much, plus 25 shipping, insurance extra.
  21. Since I bought a pair of Decware EL34 Monoblock amps after Thanksgiving, I sold my Decware Select amp that was my best stereo friend for three years. The new Monoblocks are a better fit for my Radial RL-2 speakers. They're twice as powerful, and have nearly the same sound as the Select, they're maybe just a tad warmer, which is a plus probably. I'm very happy with my system, especially with this Samson rack, which I'm just so glad to have at last.
  22. Ellington Uptown, Festival Session, and Masterpieces by Ellington are up for preorder for 8.39 . . . .
  23. Hey, just realized it would make a great Ed Motta cd!
  24. I was just thinking that there are a few albums that it would be fun to have redone by some of today's cats. Maybe they were just a little ahead of their time and not fully realized. Or maybe they would just be nice to have in a modern version for comparison or for timeliness reasons. Here's my first suggestion: "Gary Burton & Keith Jarrett" Atlantic. I think it would sound very "now" now.
  25. Brownie, I'm not doubting your facts. But that does not in any way prohibit Ms. Greco from being a very jealous woman!
