All this stuff is way over or beside my head! Al, that shitbag has a lot of company. It's sad, but part of the human condition I guess. Best to let them find their own hell in their own time, they will.

I've had this since about five or six months after its release. I love it. It has so many fantastic sessions many to most of which we aren't going to see get separate release for a LOOOOOOONNNNNNGG time. The sound is great. It's exensive, BUT it would mean a nice discount on other items from True Blue. I recommend it.

I think Ed was commenting on the rather teeny tiny itsy bitsy print! I bet he reads fluent French! B)

Brad, I believe that the later material was trio numbers that were on quintet lps, if that is the same release I remember seeing some years ago. . . . All the material should be out on other Blue Note cds from the nineties and 2000s. . . .

I haven't heard the Venus releases.

I'll never forget a response I got back from an old college buddy of mine (now a music professor at Yale) when I sent a tape of these Silver Trio sides to him. He called me up very excited and said "Horace Silver had a left hand from HELL!" I have to agree. the stuff he does with the left hand, especially the rumbling thing he gets going, knocks me out.

I dig him. His sound may be difficult to capture. I have some recordings where he sounds awful, like a bunch of snapping rubber bands. And some where the deep wooden tone is just real and riveting. I've never heard him live. . . .

COULD they be imposters who are just jealous of the open nature of this forum and the ability we have here to communicate on many levels without problem? Could they be frustrated forum owners of an inferior site who just wish they had the chutzpa to moderate the forum the way this one is? I smell a deception, a conspiracy, an international cabal of uptight bulletin board administrators. . . possibly even tomatbluenote! Ghetto Music is available for preorder from cduniverse. . . no sign of Black Rhythm Happenin' . . .but it may be smart to delay that one due to the French reissue.
