  8. Grateful Dead “30 Trips Around the Sun: The Definitive Live Story 1965–1995” disc 4
  9. Oh my. Verve released this excellent Armstrong cd yesterday and it is a wonderful sounding All Stars live date. Whenever I hear Louis sing “Dear Old Southland” with such tender and smooth delivery . . . (ironic as that song is) I feel better. And then “Kiss to Build a Dream On” . . . always sealing the deal. This one was worth the wait. Louis Armstrong and the All Stars “Louis in London” Verve cd “THE GREAT LOUIS ARMSTRONG” indeed.
  10. Dave McMurray “Grateful Deadication” Blue Note cd
  11. Another Blue Note “LTE” release. Donald Byrd “Chant” Blue Note Japan TOCJ-50275 cd. I’ve long admired the mastering in this series from Japan. Great lineup for this disc!
  12. Donald Byrd “The Creeper” Blue Note Japan TOCJ-50303
  13. Keith Jarrett, “Sun Bear Concerts,” disc 5, Sapporo
  14. “The Bobby Gordon Sextet” Jazzology cd Mr. Gordon knows how to capture the spirit of my favorite clarinetist, Charles Ellsworth Russell.
  15. Les Plus Belles Chansons de Antonio Carlos Jobim & Vinicius De Moraes A compilation of others doing mostly songs by Tom and Vinicius.
  16. Red Garland Trio (plus Ray Barretto) “Manteca”
  17. Sounds like a lot of cocaine to me. But. . . I've enjoyed the official release since it was released and a few bootlegs along the way. The Rolling Thunder stuff that followed has always been my leas favorite.
  18. Yes, I don't find his art horrible, and it's obviously a commissioned work representing Ross.
  19. You know--I think Ross chose this--his previous covers seemed personally chosen. And I don't find it so horrible.
  20. I care less and less about covers, liners etc.
  21. Joel Ross “Nu Blues” Blue Note cd
  22. The rain has stopped. Which makes it easier to listen to this one. Re-listening to “Part 2” of this concert as I was a bit distracted by questions about kitchen colors and textures from my wife when it was last playing. Fantastic pianism! Keith Jarrett “Sun Bear Concerts” disc 4, Tokyo. Part 2
  23. Well this is far more produced and distributed than their real Dylan copyright dump releases. And. . . there are those who are going to complain because it is far from EVERYTHING.
