Started early this morning and am two discs into some great sound from the system today. First "Duke Ellington's Far East Suite" this the cd from the Complete RCA Recordings box set. Love this music! Followed by The inimitable and indominatable Ms Betty Carter, "I'm Yours, You're Mine" Verve cd. This cd is an almost perfect blend of great recording with great arrangements and great performances, PLUS the Carter magic mojo.

I like it. I have the Toshiba 20 bit lp facsimile stereo version. It's not unlike a contemporary June Christy album.

Right, I had most on JMT and then rebought on Winter&Winter--they definitely sound better there.
-
Cassandra Wilson "Songs" Verve CD. I have all but one of these on Winter&Winter cds of Cassandra's, but this is a nicely sequenced compilation I enjoy listening to.

Yes it would.

Things seem to be getting even more apocaltyptic this week. . . so I felt like listening to one of my favorite blues men, Blind Willie Johnson. "Dark is the Night," Blind Willie Johnson Sony cd

Thelonious Monk - Palo Alto (Impulse) --> fresh new monk!

Indeed. TOO much. The source recording is that way I believe. -
I had one previous version of this on cd that I gave away some years ago because it sounded dull and I had so much Ra. I had thinned out my Ra collection and now have built it back with the new legit reissues. This Corbett Vs Dempsey sounds fantastic imo--I'll be very surprised if you don't prefer it in comparison to other issues.

"Sign O the Times" Prince Super Deluxe Edition box set. Now disc 3, the album 12" remixes.
-
"Woven Brass" Bjorn Morten Christophersen/Oslo Philharmonic Brass-Jonas Haltia, Ensemble Leader, 2L Recordings I found a number of these 2L releases (both a Blu-Ray Audio disc and an SACD in each) cheap, and so far I have preferred the SACD to the Blu-ray sound in those I've heard.

I'm starting to get into Jackie and Roy. My wife heard a bit of this one and said "I guess you really are OLD." (She's almost 4 years younger than I, and really only likes songwriter stuff and country). She may be right. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed this decades ago, but I'm relaxing with it now. Jackie and Roy, "Lovesick" Verve cd.

Started the day off listening to the remastered "Sign O the Times" two discs in the new Prince Super Deluxe Edition box set. This remaster is done brilliantly! Sounds tremendous.

I’m waiting for my Super Deluxe Edition of “Sign O the Times” to arrive. … of couse when it does arrive I won’t be able to listen to it til tomorrow. My wife is napping right now so I’m sneaking in one disc, disc 2 of Keith Jarrett/Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “Always Let Me Go–Live in Tokyo” . . . I’m just in awe of the sound of my system this last week. I found an old Bugle Boy Holland 12AU7 in one of my boxes of tubes that is the perfect tube for one of my components and just cryatalized the tonal balance I love.

RIP Gary. You had a real life.

Recent news: Ricky Riccardi rtSSlepcltapoeimubnesfr 27sn,oof or2iemt0dm19lo · !!!!!!!!!!! RED ALERT: We have discovered an unknown 37-minute reel of “Mack the Knife” outtakes, rehearsals and alternate takes, the full making of Louis’s 1955 hit!! Just have to find a place for it on the set but it WILL happen. -
Brubeck had a number of albums on the label before this. . . he was a jazz star on the label. I don't know. Hence I said "perhaps." Just my musing of a possible reason why these alternates were not released at a previous opportunity or two.
