  1. Al, have a happy happy birthday and many happy returns!
  2. Well. . . he was retired. :D
  3. I'm in agreement and I tolerate and don't skip the tunes on my lps. . . but I'm not really a fan. Still I love that Cannon and crew were bringing everything to the plate and I admit I find some of Cannon's playing at this time among his very best.
  4. The very first episode of "X-Files" ever. The Blu-rays of the X-Files seasons look and sound very very good.
  5. I was thinking more of "Jr." Not a fan.
  6. Absolutely Jim. This is some very good music of its time and any time. Though I admit that like John a little of some of the singing goes a long way.
  7. Thanks for the heads up on these. I actually think that Music, You All and The Price you Got to Pay to be Free are great albums. The latter will be most like Black Messiah I think . . . . Even I don't like all the material on both these, but I love what I do love on the album, and Cannon was playing at the top of his game, and reaching out. . . . We lost Cannon way too soon.
  8. I can understand that, but they really work for me. . . .
  9. I'm listening to the SHM-CD of "Lift Every Voice" right now. . .really enjoy this one. When I first heard this one years ago the voices bugged me a bit. Now I love them!
  10. Back to this one and LOUD!
  11. The Leftovers certainly doesn't frustrate me, I think it's one of the best shows on TV. Yeah, I can see the resemblance between those two. Slattery is only nine years older.
  12. I don't analyze audio in computers, I'm very anti-computer audio so can't answer that. It's a louder cd than many might like, how they did that and to what extent I'm not privy to. That said to me it still sounds okay. . . .
  13. Listening to this one because it is mostly a reissue of a '66 lp where Willie plays a Jazzmaster, and I wanted to hear that. Willie got a great sound from the Jazzmaster, which is such a versatile guitar. This is the original LP that is reissued here with one newer track added:
  14. Man, the Leftovers is great TV. Looking forward to the third and final season. Speaking of third and final seasons, I'm now watching Da Vinci's Demons third and final season on Blu-ray.
  15. I have the CD and have listened to it. A really nice performance! And the sound is good imo. There are those who run from a bit of "loudness" and some noise reduction. Well, they'll sprint away from this one, it's a bit loud and it seems to have been subjected to a bit of noise reduction. But. . . everyone is audible, there's a real soundstage. Sounds to me like a really nice cassette was the master and they made the best of it. I'm glad to have it. "Moments in Time" which was released at the same time sounds very similar, and is also a really good performance.
  16. Doggone it, people like you Joel! I'm lucky. I fall asleep right away and usually sleep seven or eight hours now that I'm again "retired." If I have a problem along these lines it's snoring. Oh well. So far not so badly that my wife won't sleep next to me.
  17. What a band! Not listed on the cover is Claude Hopkins piano and Arvell Shaw bass. The Teagarden side is excellent!
  18. Another mid-fifties Columbia marvelous sounding LP!
  19. Re-listening to Record 2 of this excellent set. It's just so good! https://www.discogs.com/Duke-Ellington-1947-1952-Recorded-Works-In-Chronological-Order/release/6270534
