  1. You know Scott, I have been getting a lot of enjoyment out of my turntable, and don't begrudge any money spent on it. Don't feel it's a mistake at all. Have no idea why what I spend my money or time on is any business of yours. I'm putting you back on ignore because I am trying to limit my exposure to negativity in my life.
  2. I took you off ignore to read this pitiful comment. Man, that was a mistake.
  3. You are welcome to your opinion though I don't think you've proved anything to me. I think that the 1000 dollar price point of the RP3 gives quite good sound. And the upgrades put it up PAST the next model, the RP6, more like the RP8. I would rather both spend the money incrementally AND enjoy doing the upgrades myself. And I have as a result enjoyed a turntable for a few years and then boosted its performance up a few levels when I wanted to spend the money and do the upgrades. It's a path that works for me. Do whatever works for you. I heard a few tables before I invested in an RP3. When I heard the RP3 I was excited by THAT sound and the fact that Groovetracer and others make an upgrade path that made sense. So I'm happy with my choice, and enjoying LPs and excited about vinyl playback again.
  4. When I was using the glass platter I used a Herbie's Audio Lab mat, which did help. I've read good things about leather mats. With the Delrin platter now I don't need, or miss, a mat.
  5. I didn't see any mention of this on the forum, excuse me if there is another thread.February 19, 2016, Resonance Records is releasing a CD and an LP of a 1976 live recording featuring Stan Getz with Joao Gilberto. http://www.resonancerecords.org/release.php?cat=HCD-2021From the Resonance Records page:Just over 50 years after the release of João Gilberto's and Stan Getz's classic Grammy®-winning album Getz/Gilberto (1964), and its sequel Getz/Gilberto #2 (1966, both on Verve Records), Resonance Records proudly announces Getz/Gilberto '76, set for release on February 19, 2016. Getz/Gilberto '76 is an instant classic collection of never-before-released recordings captured May 11-16, 1976 at the legendary San Francisco jazz club Keystone Korner, showcasing the legendary Brazilian singer, guitarist and composer João Gilberto, accompanied by the saxophone icon Stan Getz and his rhythm section of pianist Joanne Brackeen, bassist Clint Houston and drummer Billy Hart. These recordings were made during João Gilberto's and Stan Getz's weeklong engagement at the Keystone, which took place nearly 12 years after the release of their initial award-winning album.
  6. Well, I didn't buy it all new. . . I have two RP3s and the second I bought used with the TTPSU and Exact2. . . so let me see. . . I'm in about 1800 altogether on the used one that I added the Groovetracer upgrades and the white belt to. And it's sitting on a PS Audio PowerBase and VooDoo Cable IsoPods, but that's another (very helpful sonically) matter altogether. I love the sound since the upgrades (and the Decware ZP3 phono preamp is certainly playing a big part). I'm listening to more and more records and less and less CDs now.
  7. Well I'll be. I didn't realize the Music Matters was not the complete concert. That said, I have so much Ellington, even so much of this vintage, I'm good.
  8. I think Regas sound pretty darned good. I've an RP3 and I replaced the sub platter with an all aluminum one from Groovetracer, and also replaced the platter with a Groovetracer Delrin one, and got the Groovetracer underslung counterweight as well. Put an Exact cartridge on it, the white belt, the TTPSU and use the Groovetracer record weight. That's a lot of costly upgrades, but it was fun to do and as a result I feel I have a turntable that really delivers the goods in my system.
  9. HF, Most of this material came out in the US on two LP sets as well (The World of Duke Ellington). I love this material, have those US LPs and the French CBS CDs. And Larry, I've had that material on the Music Masters cds since they were released. . . I bet it sounds exactly the same as the Jazz Heritage discs, that's been my experience with Jazz Heritage discs.
  10. I don't feel the thread itself is "too contentious." But Trump is such a polarizing character and it's hard for the thread NOT to be ultimately linked to his present political campaign. I did find the article interesting and thought-provoking though and thanks for posting it Bev.
  11. Yes, not Vol. 1, but Vol. 2 of Black California made it via Savoy/Denon, minus a track or two I think. The Trombone Album also, minus a track or two, though I'm pretty sure all tracks made it on other cds. Pretty sure that the Mutt Carey material was on the Giants of Traditional Jazz cd release as well. But lots of the titles would have been nice to have like "Brothers and Other Mothers," the Harlem volumes, etc.
  12. A few of the Savoy Yusef Lateef's have not been individually released on cd and I wish someone would put out well-mastered LP facsimile cds of his entire output for the catalog. I have it all on LP but this would please me.
  13. Okay, now it's Friday. This is a fun one.
  14. From the Heavyweight Champion vinyl box set
  15. Cool, was wondering. That is the only cover I've ever seen of the vinyl.
  16. Pick it up, but not for Grachan, he's not that prominent iirc.
  17. Finished Vikings, Season 3 on Blu-ray. Really enjoyed it. On to the second half of Better Call Saul, Season 1 on Blu-ray.
  18. Never realized this LP sounded this good as my vinyl playback has never been this good before! Always loved the cover and the music. Jerry was something else. Unique! Also didn't notice until today that the tune "Rhapsody in Red" has a rhythm guitar part that sounds like Foreigner's "Hot Blooded". . . Cats Under the Stars was released in April '78. The Foreigner single was released in June '78.
  19. That looks cool! Right now Sam Brown!
  20. The sub-platter made the most difference, I got the Reference. Consider it. . . just sayin'! I'm very happy with these excellent Groovetracer products. Right now
