  1. I also think both have something in common, specially since UR was a collective out of which several side projects spawned. Since their start in the late 80s and early 90s they have released tons of material. Specially in the form of EPs and maxis. So they have little albums, and when they do, they're mostly compilations of member tracks. I, for one, like most their soulful side, being able to recommend British label React's compilation True people, from the mid 90s, which features a lot of good Detroit techno. Then there's also an album or compilation called Galaxy 2 Galaxy that's very good and from the mid 2000s and with a good choice of jazzy techno. And finally I'd recommend an album from 2006 or so called Los Hermanos (The Brothers), which is also very soulful and features again tracks by (I think mostly latin) members. Don't know if they're still active today. Last time I saw something new from them was in the mid 2000s. And, as I said, I don't know much of their stuff. There are also two compilations out there, called Interstellar Fugitives and IF2. But they are quite hard and I don't like them so much.
  2. I've got that one and play it from time to time. They are part of UR aren't they? I like UR a lot.
  3. What a pleasure it is to hear Clifford Brown. Always.
  4. There's also a very good album by Joyce released in 1999 by the London label Far Out. It's called Hard Bossa. But what I like most of her is her debut Feminina from 1980.
  5. I really liked that series of compilations.
  6. Goodman in a variety of trios. One with Teddy Wilson.
  7. That is one I like a lot. I'm partial to Jamal, but that one is a near rarity. On Impulse.
  8. Very good explanation. I was afraid it would be perhaps the same. Is that Family Circus? The cartoon is very good. Ah, now I see it's actually Family Circus.
  9. Don't know what that means, but here Antifa is Antifascism
  10. I was listening to some Evans yesterday from the new Resonance Live at Ronnie Scott's from 68, and was baffled by Eddie Gomez and Jack DeJohnette. Apart from Evans, of course. A very, very nice trio. I like that kind of jazz too.
  11. Yes, those covers are extraordinary.
  12. I remember him with love from his Mink de Ville days. From that album with Spanish stroll on it. Was it their first?
  13. This is one of my favorite Selects. And there is a terrific album in it, The Street Swingers, with Jim Hall and Jimmy Raney.
  14. This is a personal favorite of mine, which I have as part of the PJ piano trios Select and also as a Japanese mini-LP.
  15. This is much more than I have from him. Ah, and thanks very much!
  16. I found that, thanks to jazzdisco, in the meantime: Richard "Groove" Holmes Trio Richard "Groove" Holmes, organ; Joe Pass, guitar; Lawrence Marable, drums. It's very good, with a fantastic Pass.
  17. Relistening to this and enjoying it very much. It's great to have that material. Cole was also an excellent pianist.
  18. That's something I might be very interested in. Thanks for pointing it out.
  19. I was wondering about the exact same yesterday. Or maybe the day before... Yesterday I was listening to a reissue of this one, which has been coupled with a fantastic trio album also from Pacific Jazz and also from 1962 with Richard Groove Holmes and Lawrence Marable. And now I can't find that mysterious and elusive album. Someone here now what it is?
  20. I'm finally getting my head round that one. Didn't order it online, but had it reserved at my regular store. So I had to wait a bit. But yesterday I got it, together with Bill Evans live at Ronnie Scott's from Resonance, which was also waiting for me. Its awesome, though I'm still listening my way through the 64 broadcast. I'm waiting for the 75 one.
  21. This is an incredible Brazilian album. One of the best from Maysa and one of the cornerstones of Bossa Nova.
  22. I only found this one of the release I have. A Conn.
  23. Yes, it's astoundingly good.
