  9. QUOTE: Possessing, viewing and trading child pornography are unsavory obsessions, but they are in an entirely different realm than producing it." I take issue with that statement. The reason that all interactions with child porn are prosecuted is because the demand for the material drives the victimization of children. Even if the individual "only" uploaded child porn, the material was produced to satisfy that individual and like individuals. In the present case, the child porn upload/trade/distribute activities were significant; that means children were being cruelly victimized to produce this poison.

    John Tchicai

You might have noted the post in the Miscellaneous Music thread, but I was listening to this the other night. The Tchicai - Tony Marsh duo is excellent. The performance is from 2008. Tchicai does some shaman-like vocalizing. Curious, has he been doing that for a while, or is this a new development?
  11. Sorry, I guess I was at cross-purposes; have had Feldman on the brain recently. Anyway, quite coincidentally, a friend sent me a link to a 1990 interview of Rowe for purposes quite unrelated to this discussion. As it turns out, Rowe was close to Cornelius Cardew. Rowe also seems to have some acquaintance with Christian Wolff and Feldman. Very interesting bit of musical history. Worth perusing if you have time: Rowe Interview

  21. Like what? Does he play classical guitar or other peoples music? On your first question, I'm not sure what you are asking about. My point was that Coates' is extending the Feldman "style" (not quite the right word) into the guitar rep, but taking a less minimalist approach. There are moments that suggest Feldman-influence, but they are limited. No problem with that. She is entitled to her own manner. On the second question, I don't see it makes a difference, although he does both. It might take someone like Rowe, not a classical guitarist per se, but who draws on many disciplines, to get Feldman transcribed to guitar. So far I'm not seeing the Segovia-centric crowd making the effort. I would just like to see what Rowe would do with a MF piece.
