When this thread was started years ago, my box was in fine shape. It is now finally rusting pretty good, quite evenly too.
But man...it sucks to even touch it...orange fingers...
I'm gonna hafta work on it sometime...try and remove some of that stuff. I should post a picture, huh...? Okay...hold on...
Isn't the SE the one with the wood veneer?
I have a plain 'ol MMF-5 and I love mine. I've had it about 2 and 1/3 years and it's been trouble free from the start. I just replaced the cartridge, but I was very happy with the stock cart. I should get a new stylus for it...
I felt like mine was money well spent. I purchased it from Acoustic Sounds. It came all set up; just had to balance the arm and set the tracking force.
Now expect a lot of replies that will tell you that you can do better. You can really only do that when you have something else to compare it to. I don't.
I'm not sure that there is really any essential info you'll need in the old thread. Basically, it occurred with many of our boxes and Sony fixed the situation.
Just call the number...
There was a thread on this in the past, with several posters, including me, reporting the same problem. I called the Sony number, and they sent me an entirely new disc 1 and A NEW BOX AS WELL!!!
Go for it!
Ya know...there are times when I feel like changing the lyric quote in my signature line...but it's so appropriate...especially when hanging out on this board...
You know who you are.
