Amen, I'm an old fart also, been there from the beginning, remember D&E??? I absolutely support the statement about "listen and really listen" to what they were doing. Amazing Loved The Last Concert the most, unfortunately I lost my whole and complete collection of MJQ (as well as others) in the fires of San Bernardino, Oct 2003. But I will never forget.... B-)

Damn, Pistons lose again!!! WTF is up with Larry Brown???? Where is "killer instinct????" 4 of last 5 games are losses to competitive teams....... damn WTF
-
No, but this Piston fan (who occasionally pulled for the Kings the past four years and knew that Weber was the actual misfit) am estatic to hear that news..... Weber's head is too big and he can't make the big play.... B-)

How many standards or jazz tunes do you know?
BruceW replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Musician's Forum
Mostly I learn them by chord, however, I usually quickly "associate" them to their number system. I understand what you are asking. Once I have played a tune a couple of times I always try to stay in the number system. B-) -
Oh man, I've got to let vibists know on the vibe network will miss my man Larry

To answer the question I used to know about 200 tunes.... would prefer knowing about 500 to 600 so that the reading becomes unnecessary in almost all situations... B-) -

First time I saw this thread..... Very glad to see the different thoughts..... Reading on vibes is the worse for jazz.... memorization frees you up.... Like the idea of knowing a whole lot of tunes, reviewing, and having a set book for your group, with a lot of alternate or interchangeable tunes to keep the book fresh..... B-) -
Absolutely NOT and I love the Pistons. B-)

Soulstation Here I am, one of us at least. Planning to send email to Larry Brown to slap him around a bit.... Pistons look listless I still think Brown needs to get a killer attitude and transmit that to his team.... The bulls eye on their backs is bigger than last year... cu B-)

Hey guyzzz, Me, I'm embarassed after all that wolfing I did. Pistons better win today... not for me, but to serve notice that they can still win some big ones. B-)
-
The whole world saw Stoudemire shuffling his feet and the referees saw nothing. Shit, talk about being biased toward one team winning (Phoenix) with whatever help a ref can give.. B-) GO PISTONS, JUST A WARMUP
-
Kobe just ain't that smart...... Hooker = maybe $500 to $1000, that is a savings of say $14,999,000.00 and his reputation. He couldn't figure that out....... B-)

Hey Soulstation, You obviously don't like the Pistons, that is too bad, you get your feelings hurt every time they win. Pistons will win. Miami does NOT NEED Peyton. Peyton is, has been, and always will be too much mouth. He has always been a problem and still is because of that. He has a very bad attitude problem and the Lakers found that out last year. Boston is finding out this year. Miami does NOT NEED Peyton. Hope they do not touch him. Miami is very strong with what they got, especially getting Mourning back to back up Shaq or to even play power forward if need be. Cavs need a power forward, a REAL power forward and then they would do pretty good. Did they ever get the point guard they need so they can move James to shooting guard and/or small forward???? B-)

Noj You're okay man. A lot of guys stay deluded about the Lakers. Me, as much as I pull for the Pistons, it WILL NOT be easy at all. They will have to get by Miami, Indiana. However, right now they are the defending champs and playing like it. If they is a weakness it is Brown, he just won't STOMP a team into the ground, pulls regulars too fast. Although they won by 21 last night. Shoulda been 35-40. C. Webb is a loser, cannot win the big ones. The "look" is always on his face in the big games. It will take Iverson to get them through to the Finals. Then the West presents a HUGE problem for the Title, but Pistons dethroned a dynasty, that counts for a huge amount of confidence. I like your nickname for Duncan, Timmy Turtlehead, oh what a laugh!! Nice exchanging barbs with ya. B-)

Tain't gonna happen, my friend! Sure, it'll be Pistons vs. Heat for the Eastern Conference Championship, but the Pistons will beat them in 6. Hey B3er, a typical sour grapes response; can't defend lowly Lakers so attacks from a different direction. That's okay Noj, we understand how you feel...... you just admitted that it won't be the Lakers to defeat the Pistons. B-)

Yeah Man, Detroit Rocks.... National broadcasts are great (locals suck) because they are limited to tell the truth or at least as much as possible. They are not allowed to extoll their personal likes over and over again; ever hear Stu Lantz for the Lakers (local broadcaster), it is as if he is watching a different ball game all together. B-)

Detroit Rocks!!!

Soul Station That is a cool Avatar then, Sanford's adddress; that is cool man. Hey it looks like all of us are glued to the TV watching the Pistons. That's cool. Keep working on the skills. That is what I am doing, Kobe is the league "do not touch" baby. I will be glad when the league recognizes LeBron and Kobe will have to work even harder to gain back any semblance of his image. He is still a shithead selfish dude. See that look on his face at that break at 53-36.. Detroit Rocks B-)
-
Hey Soul Station 1, I see you are from South Central, LA. Do you play the B3???? Maybe in a few months I could jam with you. It would be a trip to LA but I could do it once, I think. I'm an old fart trying to get some chops back on vibes?? how about it?? B-)
-
It is fun..... but we mean no harm. B-)
-
FYI I was born and raised in Detroit, Cass Tech H.S. I still remember when Detroit was the Ft. Wayne Pistons. How's yat?? B-)

Comon B3er, Say it proud, say it loud Detroit Rocks.... B-)

No one hit fifty in the last two years. As to the philosophical question asked above, it can be measured by the players who used to hit long outs and then suddenly hit loads of dingers. Those loads of dingers is the exact measurement of how much more is steroids. Dan is exactly right. However, since I am not a mathematician I cannot give the exact equation for arriving at a percentage BUT Dan is right. Unfortunately we have no stats on "long outs." Probably the baseball clubs do! They keep stats on EVERYTHING, leading to an extrapolation of that theory and thus: THE CLUBS and MANAGERS KNEW ALL ALONG WHAT WAS GOING ON! They are all trying to cover their as*es........ B-)
-
Questions for the great philosophers.... How do you measure what part of a home run is natural power and what part is steroid power????

Hey guys, dig this.... There is a lot of hype about C. Webb "saving" the 76ers. B*llS**t...... C.Webb cost SAC a real chance at a championship for two years by coming back from injuries "too soon." Webb WILL NOT play deep in the post (he is a power forward, right) and mix it up with the premier power forwards in the league. He wants to be a 6'10" outside shooter. SAC had all the outside shooting they needed for the past 4 years. He is about numbers and not what is actually needed. However... Iverson will take it inside enough to justify him continuing to shoot from outside, how about that. Right now at this moment ESPN is bravely exclaiming how C.Webb will make the 76ers better and win them a championship. Wha!!!!! Well why didn't SAC win?????? Okay, comon with the rebuttals or confirmations..... don't be shy B-)
