  1. Just for the record; I only posted a new thread on my experience with yu know who cause he deleted the thread that I intially posted my protest. I would have deleted the thread myself after the rude dude apologized, but he attacked me in personal way right off the bat! (adding insult to injury.) My only reason for posting about this was to warn others of what they could be in for dealing with this guy. This is supposed to be a friendly place, unlike a rough and tumble business environment. Finally, I was under the assumption P.M s were not to be used to send demeaning, rude or offensive messages. Also personal attacks like the one rude dude leveled on me in his first post are also prohibited. If these groundrules are not inforced as Use3D actions imply, what is the use of having them? I am glad there are a few members of this board who agree rudeness has no place on this board.
  2. If I wanted to embarass you I would have posted your PM to me. You embarrased yourself with your insulting response. I have nothing to apologize for.
  3. Your post did mention offers and thats why you deleted the Weston post. You should be banned from this board. (this guy is a liar also.) You should be embarassed! The right thing to do would be to apologize instead of attacking me. but you have to have character to do that!
  4. I made an offer like his post said and he sent me a abusive pm! This should not be tolerated by this community!
  5. I picked up three cds. Now lets see if they sound as good as non BMG product. thanks for sharing the offer!
  6. this issue got a good review on audioasylum from a guy who compared it to his original pressing. Next best thing to an original according to him.
  7. Meet Oliver Nelson
  8. aside from the vulgarities of each playback system it won't sound much different which is why I never bought the vinyl reissues before.
  9. EMI will probably issue the new version on vinyl which I guess will be digital mastered. Since the NYT review made note of the high quality sonics of the cd, a good analogue pressing might be worth buying if it is avaliable. I've never bought the new Beatles releases on vinyl. Anyone have any thoughts on this one?
  10. thanks Dmitry..... what other preamps have you heard before coming to your conclusion? Is the bottom end nice and tight?
  11. Can't get off the mark picking a phono preamp since I haven't had the opportunity to audition any. Can spend up to $1500, but 500 to 1k range would be better, used or new. If anyone can recommend one they have heard or own, please post. thanks. Oh yea, I am using a high output moving coil cart, Goldring Eroica, and don't expect to move to a low output cartdrige.
  12. I know you are out there...
  13. This is a promo for the Sony box set. Unlikely to find it online, maybe in a inde record store that sells demo copies.
  14. what is your favorite of the Blue Note double albums in the reissue series? I especially dig the second session on the Back To the Gig twofer by Booker Erwin.
  15. I was floored when I first heard the lp a couple of years ago. (and commented as such on the Blue Note board, remember that?) And as often happens, when I checked the liner notes to see who had cooked up this different brew, Ron Carter's name was there.
  16. the Rhythm Section wanted. Label should read Stereo Records. have Blue Notes to trade!
  17. it is good to be me... Anyone have an original STEREO RECORDS pressing of Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section to trade??
  18. usually the label is used to identify pressings; different record companies have different identifying clues. the address on the label, the color, markings in the dead wax ect. are all used to tell whats what.
  19. I'll take a 2nd pressing blue Note over any Classic reissue. the upper midrange is jacked up on the Classics making the cymbals sound wierd and the horns not as good as on the originals. (based on the mono BlUe Train and Candy I heard on a high end system. Along with earlier isssues I own. stereo ones.) Time takes its toll on master tapes.
  20. It goes without saying that a good vinyl pressing will kill any cd, unless you have a super high end digital playback which will cost at least 5k. However, I found the Mosaic Thad Jones set was bettered by a United Artist blue Note pressing made around 1970. Vinyl lovers would be better off picking up those pressings since the Mosaic goes for a ridiculous price considering it is only a 3 lp set. Needless to say, guys who have original Blue Notes will tell you the United Artist reissues sound like crap! Its all relative in the audio world.
  21. Rice paper inner sleeves have been recommended by some posters previously. Anyone know where to get them?
  22. I would venture to say the unique feel this band created was very much due to Dave Holland's playing. Very different phrasing!
  23. The OJC releases of material recorded by Van Gelder are so much better the RVG remasters sound like trash by comparison. Rudy is toast.
  24. I don't like the cartridge on my MM-7 . i would buy a music hall without the cart and buy a Grado. The sound on the cart they give you just doesn't cut it for jazz. the midrange just isn't rich enough.
