some seller on ebay has a Blue Note described with this address on the label. other copies i have seen of this record have west 63rd address. anyone know if this is a later pressing or what? seller wouldn't provide additional info. thanks

I am paid in Euros, and I tried to get some of these records, but I was outbidded by a guy whose nickname was rudy_van_gelder, living in US, so your theory has some holes. just as tourism increases in Europe when the dollars strengthens, lps priced in dollars draw more foreign bidders when the dollars drops, cause they are getting more back for the buck, (or should I say yen). Great majority of high bids coming from overseas.

what did the closing of the Hit Factory mean in terms of the recording studio business Jim?

recently higher prices reflect drop in dollar against Euro and Yen. if the trend continues....forgettaboutit!

the sonny's crib, 1576 , was a non-ear version which means it probably was pressed after Liberty records bought blue Note. totally crazy!

Bump! Surely someone know the answer...? this subject should be under the audio section where Jim Anderson could comment. Maybe try the ask the engineer thread. fold downs may cause a loss of certain infomation which is out of phase such as reverberation or other true stereo information on the tape. When the stereo tracks are combined the out of phase info gets cancelled out. this may cause the signals that appear in equal amounts in both stereo channels to appear louder since they will sum without any loss. any mono master done without being remixed is pretty hit and miss.

SOMEDAY MY PRINCE WILL COME - MFSL - just sounds more involving then the original on my system. Must be the low noise pressing. Now I can dig it. CHAMBERS MUSIC - Score or Jazz West - again the Blue Note two-fer really awful. Earlier pressings reveal Paul Chambers at his relaxed best. I am a believer now! (Imperial pressing supposed to be good also.) BOOKER LITTLE - Time records stereo - Lafaro on this also I think. All over Ebay lately. A gem. LOVE SUPREME - mono original - somehow the mono connects much better than the stereo. LOVE SUPREME LIVE- unedited on some French label. same as what is on the special cd edition. didn't know this existed on vinyl.

take stereo source and put it through a summing amplifier and you have mono.

I saw several cd box sets (mostly select ) being sold at a discount by one of Mosaic's underpaid employees at a local record show recently. the art work was so bad I had to pass. Its disgraceful that such great music has gotten such a poor presentation by Mosaic. Maybe when they raise their prices to 25 bucks a cd you guys will wise up. I don't why anyone would believe I have a grudge against Cuscuna cause of some rediculous reason posted above. Based on the records he's produced it obvious he has no talent in that regard. Strictly an opportunist who had the chance to distribute great music to a wider audience but decided to maximize his own wealth instead. oh yeah I forgot to mention.. VINYL SOLD OUT

Chambers Music, an original I just picked up on Jazz West. sounds much better than the Score pressing or the blue note twofer. worth the dough.
