  1. It ended at $1,585. It's a Classic Records re-issue, with the faux deep-groove and addresses. Except, of course the obvious 'Classic Records under licence etc.' line at the bottom of the back cover. http://cgi.ebay.com/VG-RARE-Lee-Morgan-Ind...1QQcmdZViewItem check out the feedback from buyer. really nuts. i wonder if seller is going to get away with it. I think yes.
  2. i guess what shocked the industry is the Herbie won despite only selling 58,000 units.
  3. Capitol reissue of INDEED going for over 300.
  4. didn't like his playing on the Tony william tribute lp wlth Schofield. he seems to be bashing and not as flowing compared to his playing in 91 on Schofield's Time On My Hands lp. maybe its old age.
  5. after logging on to Popsike I got a message I had to subscribe to get any more access. Now how am I supposed to pay when i spent all my extra cash on vinyl?
  6. I guess they couldn't resist that white label, similar to early Riverside, some OJC have. It makes those "Sound of Sonny" looks like the real deal, especially with a blurred Ebay picture... please add the typical Ebay "more money than brain (and eyes, and knowledge)" behaviour, and you have an explanation of those 500 $. Try $599, not $500: http://cgi.ebay.com/Sound-Of-SONNY-ROLLINS...bayphotohosting I have seen this ebay listing many times...is it a sincere mistake ? or a very bad scam ? other reissues are lsited in the price range ... anyway, nobody "bought it now". Somebody bought it! i emailed the buyer a week after sale and let him know so i guess he sent it back.
  7. rainbow lp pressing quite good. better than latter reissue and much better than awful conn cd version. don't waste money on King pressing.
  8. Thanks. But did the original stereo LPs have the same dodgy bass placement as these? Again, I have most of these in mono. It's surprising to me that by the mid-60s Columbia wasn't centering the bass, as they did with previous Miles LPs, Brubeck, etc. I dunno, I never have heard the original LP's. I had a tape of "ESP" when I was little but I don't remember any weird bass placement, of course I was really young. bass was panned hard as was drums on stereo lps. very cool cause if you want to isolate the drums or bass to dig the complex lines they were playing you can pan to one speaker and really get it. I was listening to Tony on Miles Smiles like this the other day and it was a revelation. Its amazing how bad the cds sound compared to the original lps.
  9. I echo these sentiments. Get better soon! Although I have no interest in any of your sets, it does look like you've got a pack of people who are interested! Good luck to you and make sure you hang around! Thanks guys. I am a retired Air Force MSgt (27 years) and can take ribbing and joking. Rudeness is a different issue. The stoke just left me with some slight memory impairment. I could have easily dropped off the Mosaics at a local reseller in Westport, CT and made a haul. Not my intention. I don't need the cash, it is more a case of my not having any use for these items and wanting to make them available at reasonable cost to forum members. They are just sitting around collecting dust, I am getting rid of brick a brac, and thought they would be appreciated by genuine fans. As I mentioned, the packing and mailing is a pain but I can handle that. Knowing someone will enjoy a set I no longer need is key. Bickering about who was 'first' is kind of petty. I am not on the internet all that much and would like to ensure each member gets what they want. Kind of like recyling. I've gleaned a lot of valuable information about music from reading the forum and have also made a lot of purchases based on info in the topics. Appreciate a recommendation or re- release and am enjoying the Cotton Club set which cost a few dollars. Thanks to you guys, I was able to put my Chet items in some semblance of order and still play the old scratchy 10 inchers I bought in second hand stores for a few bucks. Thanks to Ubu, I found the Chet track I had asked about on one of my CDs. My putting my unwanted items up for sale at what they cost me is my way of saying thanks to a great group of individuals who indeed know their stuff. Now...of someone can tell me how much the Charles Brown Aladdin cost new, I can get it to a member who will enjoy it. I've looked through several old Mosaic catalogs to no avail. I'm glad there is someone on this board that ain't broke. all the best in the New Year! (that goes for everyone).
  10. somebody paid over 500 for a OJC reissue of Sound of Sonny. I guess they just couldn't resist the buy it now price!
  11. terrific cd. awesome recording and mix. one of his best.
  12. Scofields latest is terrific. sound is great also. one of his best
  13. meanwhile vinyl Mosaic sets are dropping in price.
  14. the Who documentary on VH1 was excellent. Pete says Quadraphenia was the best record they made.
  15. the last paragraph of this "review" rings true to me. can anyone tell me what it means?
  16. complete Bill Evans Mosaic for 350. Chet Baker and Crew nm 6 dollars, in a record store no less.
  17. I see some listings on EBAY with flat edge descriptions of prestige lps. I have some Blue Notes with flat edge, but all my west 50th prestige records seem to have a lip that can be felt if not seen. were there different pressings of prestige lps with the same label, some flat edge , some not? or were only early Blue Notes flat edge?
  18. to expect sellers to extend themselves is not realistic. unless you are selling big ticket items, after fees and considering the time involved , most ebay sellers are working for peanuts. to make extra communications to each buyer is just not possible for most sellers trying to make a buck.
  19. Mosaic's business model detemined it would have a short life. I give it another 3 years max. about the time Cuscuna is due to retire. fast buck artists always meet the same fate.
  20. STUDIO JAZZ PARTY NO. 2 ON DECCA nm . 5 bucks at flea market. nice west coast date.
  21. some fellow emailed me in reference to a RED CLAY album i listed on ebay (why, or why) saying original press has green label , not tan. I don't think I have ever seen one like that. or any CTI lp with a green label. anyone expert on this ?
  22. he is playing new york with Vinnie Coluita and some guitar player. anyone seen him? thanks
