  1. In the years 1962 and 1963 latin jazz had a very good spell and a lot of albums were released.I have only got a few of these.A few BN ( Ike Quebec Soul Samba, Charlie Rouse Bossa Nova) and a couple of OJC, but do you have any suggestions for my collection? Thanks
  2. That would be brilliant! They could include much more stuff and my bookshelves would be so relieved!
  3. I received the 7th edition and I am disappointed to see that quite a lot of reviews I was expecting to find in it have not been included.A few RVGs which were released a year ago are not even mentioned and the absence of an index is unforgivable! It is still the best guide with the best reviews but too many albums are omitted (and not only the ones which are out of print).I will stop buying it every other year. The AMG is more thorough but Scott Yanow's reviews are far too short and not very analytical.
  4. Bon anniversaire!!! I really like this thread. It is a bit predictable but it the least controversial one too.Have a great day Greg!
  5. Maybe the worst BN ever! I have the new RVG edition and I don't like the music & the sound.I am only keeping it because I like the cover! But if somebody gives me a good price for it I may be tempted to get rid of it! Not the best advert to sell a product though!!
  6. OOPS! Well spotted Mike.Well, I don't like Coltrane's stuff recorded after 1963 except 'Love Supreme'
  7. I have tried to listen to 'Ascension' at different times of the day, of the week but the result is always the same.I just don't like it.I don't enjoy any of the stuff Coltrane recorded after 1963 and I am pleased I am not the only one!!! But 'Love Supreme' is a treasure.
  8. 'Indestructible' is undoubtedly one of the best sessions of Art Blakey but I think that 'Mosaic' and 'Buhaina's delight' have the edge. The title track 'Mosaic' is a cracker.Maybe my favourite!!
  9. Thanks to all of you for your precious help.I have just ordered the Mosaic set.The three tunes I listened on the Mosaic records link were very convincing. As it 'only' costs $39 it won't count as a Christmas treat and I have got some money left to spend on my Xmas present. Thanks again!!!!!!
  10. Thanks for the link.I have just been listening to 'once in a while'.It sounds pretty good.I will certainly go for the Mosaic collection if it is still ......... available.thanks again
  11. Hi everybody.I haven't got anything by Dizzy Reece in my Blue Note collection and I don't really know where to start.Does any of you own Blues in Trinity? If yes what do you think of it and what do you think of his other sessions? Thanks for your help!!!
  12. Hi Catesta, happy birthday from me and the rest of the world! Enjoy.Any jazz CDs for presents?
  13. Do you know if, apart from the 'One night with Blue Note' there are other DVDs with the cream of the cream of the blue note personnel 1959-1966.Are there any DVDs with Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Horace Silver and co?
  14. There are a lot of posts on the Jack Wilson.I think it is a brilliant album.I have the JRVG edition and the sound is fantastic.I am thinking of buying the Larry Young CD.What do you think of it?
  15. I find it very disappointing, especially the first two tracks!
  16. I have just ordered a couple of JRVG to Hiroshi. The guy seems friendly, competent and prices are very competititve too. For those who were worried about payment methods, he accepts Paypal now. Thanks for your advice J.A.W!
  17. Thanks for your answers.I know what I need to do.Wait til they come up on this website or ebay.So far, I have bought mine to HMV japan but shipping costs a fortune. Sorry to disagree but I do prefer the JRVG sound although the recent ones sound very similar to the US versions. Well, if anybody has a few JRVG for sale, give me a shout!
  18. Hi everybody, I am new to this website and I already love it.Could you please help me to update my JRVG collection. What is the cheapest and ... most reliable place or website I can get them from? Thanks for your help.
