ghost of miles Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 The release date is now June 3: Blackhawk Quote
Brad Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 Just put my order in. Is Mosaic going to release this in Lp? Quote
sidewinder Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 (edited) Wonder when Mosaic will announce the LPs? (assuming that is that they still intend releasing LPs of the new Miles sets). This would be a 6-LP set, I guess.. Brad - you pre-empted my thoughts exactly by about 10 millisec ! Edited May 1, 2003 by sidewinder Quote
Ed S Posted May 1, 2003 Report Posted May 1, 2003 I've emailed Mosaic about 3 times in the last 18 months to see if they were going to do the LP set. Each time the answer was yes. Quote
Out2Lunch Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Did they give you any idea as to a release date? Quote
Ed S Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 No, unforunately. That last time I contacted them about it was sometime in the December 2002 time frame and there was no release date for the CD set at that point. Quote
Brad Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Aren't the release dates for Miles material usually more or less simultaneous between the 2 companies? Quote
Out2Lunch Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 The release date will coincide with the opening date for the new and more Norah-Friendly Blue Note BB! (Purple Herman) Quote
Claude Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Amazon Germany and Amazon France have this set for preorder as well. I thought this was supposed to be in 2 seperate 2CD sets ("Friday" and "Saturday"), but it is listed as a 4CD set, although Amazon France also offers two 2CD sets. Amazon Germany says it will be available on May 19, but their release dates are never reliable. Quote
JohnS Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 (edited) Sony in the UK are advertising 2 two cd sets or one four cd box. Release date is give as 3 June. Amazon UK have this four cd set for preorder at £17.99-can this be right? Edited May 2, 2003 by JohnS Quote
Son-of-a-Weizen Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Thanks for posting that, Ghost. I was going to hit that site but decided rather to get a copy through Amazon Japan. If you run the numbers, that Blackhawk set will end up costing you a total of $37.48 at CDUniverse (shipping is $5.99) and a whopping forty-seven cents more at Amazon Japan. That Amazon total includes the 600 yen charge per order and the 300 yen ($2.50) charge per item. The bottom line is that those folks who like to deal direct with places like Amazon Jpn. and plan on picking up the Blackhawk set can also nab a couple of extra japanese items for an additional $2.50 per item in shipping. That's not bad when you consider how much cheaper the discs are over there. Quote
David Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Weizen, Is there any button you can click on in the Japanese Amazon site to make it more English-friendly? I am having a bear of a time negotiating the site Thanks! Quote

Claude Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 (edited) Amazon UK have this four cd set for preorder at £17.99-can this be right? Amazon France initially had this 4CD set (marked "UK import") for preorder at 23 Euro (!), but then they changed the price to 35 Euro. You can always order it, but your order may be canceled by Amazon later "because the item is not available". That's how they manage to fix errors on pricing. Edited May 2, 2003 by Claude Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Can you guys give us or me a clue how you navigate that site. I can't read Japanese and I don't know if you guys can or does that site follow the US site so you basically know what you're hitting even if you don't know japanese. As a comparison, I read French somewhat so that site is not much of a problem. I've ordered from Amazon Germany, but only with the assistance of board members who do. All Amazon sites have practically the same setup. Quote
JohnS Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Thanks Claude, I've preordered anyway, you never know. But I thought it was too good to be true. Quote

Well, I preordered it from Amazon U.K. at £17.99 (approximately €26 or $29) - let's wait and see what happens. Edited May 2, 2003 by J.A.W. Quote

Parkertown Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Anyone know of a SACD release? Then I could get rid of my JSACDs of these...perhaps to a board member at a friendly price! Quote
Claude Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 I don't want to start a SACD debate but it seems that the Sony Jazz reissue programme on SACD has slowed down considerably during the last year. Quote
Gregore Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 I don't want to start a SACD debate but it seems that the Sony Jazz reissue programme on SACD has slowed down considerably during the last year. What does one expect when the heretics and antiquarians continue to insist on buying redbook CDs? While they enjoy their audio Model T's, we, the brave vanguard of the future, shall forge valiantly ahead. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 (edited) I don't see what the fuss is about SACD. I think it's a great thing, especially now that they're doing hybrid cds. If I'm going to re-buy albums, I'd rather buy a SACD hybrid version than a RVG. I haven't bought a player yet. I'm waiting to see what's going to happen between SACD and DVD-A. You have to understand, I'm a person who bought into Beta and Laserdiscs, so I'm a little weary. Welcome to the board, Gregiore. :rsmile: Edited May 2, 2003 by AfricaBrass Quote

Welcome to the board, Gregiore. :rsmile: Just to avoid any misunderstanding: I wasn't talking about SACD itself, I merely saw an SACD fight coming on... I think we've had more than enough of that on a certain, now defunct board, but hey, that's only my opinion Quote
AfricaBrass Posted May 2, 2003 Report Posted May 2, 2003 Hans, I didn't want to start any SACD fights or anything. They did get kind of old around the ol' BNBB. Quote
