Teddy Riley - Honky Tonk Town '79 (504). Great New Orleans jazz, digitized and stuffed into my iPod.

I thought you were a million miles away!

Pre-digitized and iPod-stuffed long before my trip. I probably cheated in posting it to the vinyl thread, but I still think of it as vinyl, even when I'm listening on my iPod.

That's probably fairly rare. I have the Cecil on Praxis but not that one.

I think it may have reappeared on a Leo cd Paul.

Didn't know about the Leo reissue, but your vinyl copy is still probably rare.

Reissued by Leo Records as "Live in Milano"

Recorded live in Milano, August 1980

Recording licensed from "Praxis". Original LP "Among the People"

The song titles on the original LP were incorrect:

Tutankhamun [Among The People]

Illinstrun [shango King]

A Jackson In Your House [Choosing A Cracker]

Spinning "Kind Of Blue" on blue vinyl from the Legacy box set. It's OK but not enough of an improvement over the CD to make it a "must have". The only reason I got it was because I paid $25 for it during one of Barnes & Noble's crazy 75% off sales back around Christmas.

Thanks for that Alan. Perhaps not the most essential AEOC record.

Elmore James and his Broomdusters: The Original Meteor and Flair Sides (Ace)

Elmore looked like a banker or a schoolteacher, but no one sang and played with more passion than he did.

And the late Bob Jones was able to make the old Ace LPs that he mastered come alive like no one else could.

And don't know if the photo is large enough or clear enough, but those are Erroll Garner and Stan Kenton LP jackets on the wall behind Elmore and Homesick James. Who have thunk it?
