Leeway Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 I really admire Bennink's seemingly undimmed sense of fun, experimentation, and that certain wildness Bennink always seem to impart to his activities. Recent LP with Brodie West and Terrie Ex. I much enjoyed it. Quote

jeffcrom Posted November 8, 2011 Report Posted November 8, 2011 The internet has returned to my house after two days away! Don Redman/Claude Hopkins/Benny (not Bennie) Carter - Big Bands Uptown (MCA). Great music on one of those awful Jazz Heritage Series pressings. I've had this since back in the day. Quote

jeffcrom Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 Lee Allen "Walkin' With Mr. Lee" Oh, hell, yes! Glad you like! If you want to hear it, I posted a needledrop of it on my blog (link in my signature)..... Oh, I'm quite familiar with "Walkin' With Mr. Lee." Starting tomorrow night, I'll be a bachelor for a few days, and as usual on those occasions, I'll probably pull out the boxes of 45's - blues, R & B, and lots of great New Orleans stuff. Right now: Pretty Baby soundtrack (ABC). This has long been one of my favorite New Orleans albums, with Kid Thomas Valentine, The New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra, Louis Cottrell, pianist Bob Greene, and even a vocal by James Booker. I just picked up a new copy today - I've had two previous copies, and they were both very noisy. This one is visually near mint, and it's better than my previous copies, but it's still got a fair amount of surface noise. Quote

Leeway Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 (edited) Spending some quality time with Dewey Redman. I like Dewey on the musette (tenor too of course). Thinking Dewey might be a good candidate for a Mosaic box. Edited November 11, 2011 by Leeway Quote
