paul secor Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Michael Hurley: Land of Lofi (Mississippi) Is it pronounced "Low-fee" or "Low-Fie" ? I assume it's low-fie, since most of Michael Hurley's recordings have seemingly been low budget affairs aimed at music lovers rather than audiophiles (though one can be both). Could also be a sort of pun on the two Lodis (N.J. and Ca.). Only Mr. Hurley knows for sure. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 Thanks. I sorta guessed the first one, but I like your second guess. Now: Coltrane - Selflessness - (Impulse red/black) Quote

clifford_thornton Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Marzette Watts - Ensemble - (Savoy) Very nice! I paid a few limbs for a stone mint copy of this some years ago and do not regret it at all... Mine is pretty clean but the pressing is far from dead silent. It's a real strong document of the period, even if part of me wishes that Bill had been able to commercially release more of his own work (rather than producing his students' sessions) during those years. Leeway Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 ILLUSIONARY SEA - Mary Halvorson Septet - Firehouse 12 2LP 45rpm. The 45rpm production is excellent. Oh yeah, I dig the music too! Quote
