Homefromtheforest Posted August 3, 2014 Report Posted August 3, 2014 Miles Davis "relaxin" ...from "the great prestige recordings" 5 LP box from analogue productions. Just sublime sound...the best versions I've heard of these amazing sessions. I have an XRCD of "steamin" but the version of that record in this vinyl box trumps that as well. Quote

jeffcrom Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Laboratorio della Quercia (Horo). This two-LP set is one of the great unsung masterpieces of the Horo catalog. A 20-piece avant-garde orchestra improvises and plays charts in Rome, 1978. On board are Kenny Wheeler, Enrico Rava, Roswell Rudd, Steve Lacy, Steve Potts, Evans Parker, Tristan Honsinger, Frederick Rzewski, Kent Carter, and Paul Lytton. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Need to dig that one out again. It's been a while. Quote
Homefromtheforest Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 I used to have it many years ago but got rid of it..if memory serves correctly at the time it didn't really knock me out and I thought the recording quality was a bit dodgy. But it's been nearly 15 years now so maybe if I heard it again I'd have a different opinion? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 5, 2014 Report Posted August 5, 2014 Some of it is pretty cool but like I said, haven't heard it in a while. Think I got a sealed copy that sounded fine. Quote
