Clark Terry: Serenade to a Bus Seat (Riverside Japan)

When I first saw this title years ago, I thought it was a reference to Rosa Parks and the Montgomery bus boycott. According to the liner notes, it's not. But thinking back to the notes for Sonny's Freedom Suite, who knows.

Horace Silver 'The Jody Grind' (BN Liberty blue/white mono)

Now spinning the stereo version - Liberty (blue/white)

sounding significantly better than the CD which IIRC was a vinyl dub.

Mine has "New York" labels.

Interesting that the gatefold sleeve has a picture of Alfred Lion - credited as A&R producer. From I read elsewhere (Londonjazzcollector) this was the last BN session produced/recorded before the hand over to Liberty. Earliest edition were Liberty pressed. One might assume that having a NY label makes it an earlier pressing ( than my Liberty labelled edition), not that it actually matters and of course with BN pressings nothing can ever be assumed !!!

Was going to comment on how impressive the inside cover was for this title, not to mention the great front and back photos.

Wonder if the NY label copies have Liberty sleeves?
