Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Miles Davis - E.S.P. (Columbia). Two-eye Mono. Beat up, but still plays OK with some surface noise on side 1. Side 2 has a rather large scratch from the edge to the center but my Ortofon 3M Black cartridge plays it with only a little crackle. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Miles Davis - My Funny Valentine (Columbia) Two-eye mono again. I must've bought a pile of these somewhere along the line. I'm not usually a mono guy. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 17, 2018 Report Posted January 17, 2018 Teddy Edwards - Nothin' But The Truth! (Prestige). Blue label Van Gelder pressing. It's not my favorite Edwards date but I haven't found a lot of his Prestige dates on vinyl. The CDs are usually in the player for his catalog. Quote

I know it's been reissued by Jazzman Gerald last year, but there seems to be another 2017 reissue on the Gallo label (South Africa). Discogs now lists six (!) different vinyl editions of this album. Dan Gould Posted January 19, 2018 Report Posted January 19, 2018 Â https://www.discogs.com/Dave-Kamien-Lets-Swing-Jazz-Zum-Mitnehmen/release/3155393 Another recent Discogs purchase (with much better cover, by the way). Apparently issued with a book about jazz improvisation, and unfortunately side 2 is a play-along record, same tracks as side 1 but only with the rhythm section. But side 1 certainly swings, and the leader got some heavy hitters to play: Slide Hampton, Wilton Gaynair and Carmell Jones. Reminds me, who was the member who was a completist on Carmell Jones? I don't think he's still here but I wonder if he has this one. Quote
