I haven't pulled out the CDs to compare. The two Tone Poets have "you are there at the VV" sound.

That's a good news for my ears and bad news for my wallet

I just don't see how a full digital recording can sound better on vinyl than CD, which is why i haven't bought these Tone Poet LPs. The CDs certainly have a "you are there" quality to them.

in which case both of you are happy with what you have. A good outcome all round. Let the format wars cease here :D

I find it quite odd that increasingly on this board someone says how pleased they are with the format they are listening to, and have just invested in, only for someone to poor cold water on their enjoyment by questioning how could they be hearing what they say the are hearing because of the format they have chosen to listen to. Let's just respect eachother's different choices for accessing great music without having to always question, shall we?. Just a suggestion.

Buddy Tate playing "These Foolish Things" will tear your stinkin' heart out!

And where's Claude Hopkins on the cover!?!?  He's handling the piano, and he's a mofo!  (in a deliciously stride-y and understated way.)

... They forgot about Pops' man Arvell Shaw on bass too.  ;)

Sonic standout - I’ll bet it far improves on the original. Gearbox/Optimal production - lovely stuff. As usual, Davy throws some jazz in too.

I have an original first pressing and a 2007 audiophile reissue of Folk, Blues & Beyond, yes the reissue is quieter, but those guys at Decca knew how do a record.

At the cost of probably about a 20th of the cost of a decent original, I’m a happy camper. :)

They have also reissued ‘The Holly Kaleidoscope’ as well for the RSD, on kaleidoscopic swirl vinyl.   Again, this one sounds great though.

I suspect these are being put out in tandem with a HD tracks streaming release, which seems to have been the case with the ‘Kawaida’ too. Same model that was used on the Rendell/Carr reissues.
