Okay, I have never seen that record in my life.

I think it is all up on YouTube.

When I returned it to the shelf I ran across this and will play it next.

The first and for me best new line-up release feat guitar and electric bass (Chuck RaineyĀ !!) .... nevertheless the magic of the "Jazz Crusaders" era (f.i likeĀ Buster WilliamsĀ could play funky grooves on acoustic bass) is somehow gone ....

They definitely evolved into something different.Ā

It's hard for me to hear this music objectively because I grew up listening to The Crusaders (Mk II) as a kid.Ā  My dad had several of their albums and played them often.Ā Ā OTOH, I only discovered the Jazz Crusaders in adulthood.

One of my favorite Crusaders LPs:

Live in concert.Ā  Not at all a studio artifact.Ā

What is that a picture of? Never could figure that out.

Your guess is as good as mine.Ā  The image seems to have no relationship to the title.

The pink cover & pouring liquid always makes me think of Pepto Bismol -- but I doubt that was their intention!  😜

Art Pepper Quartet - APQ: The Maiden Voyage Sessions, Vol. 3 (Galaxy, rec. 1981)
with George Cables, David Williams, and Carl Burnett

ā¤ļøĀ  This third volume from the Maiden Voyage, released posthumously in '84, really scratches my itch.Ā  I have & enjoy all three LPs from the gig -- Pepper & his band were really cooking -- but the third gets spun the most.

I enjoyed those records so much I broke down and bought the 7 cd set in February - though I haven't made it through them all yet
