Peggy Lee - Latin a la Lee - Capitol (rainbow, mono).

a KILLER record.

I am convinced that the Beatles based their version of "Till There Was You" from Peggy's version on this album.

Oh yes - I always thought that. The single got a lot of radio plays over here.

Must get around to buying a bit more Peggy Lee.

Get "Black Coffee" on Decca. It's one her jazziest ever, and it's her most easy to find album from her Decca period (a few years in the mid 50s).

Nearly all of her Capitol albums from the 50s up to at least the mid 60s are really solid.

Also, I always loved the live album with George Shearing, "Beauty and the Beat."

Is that one a 10" Decca LP with a cup of coffee on the cover?

Yes. And a few years later, she recorded 4 more tunes and it was expanded to a 12". This one has a color photo of a cup of coffee on the cover. It is available on CD also.

Rod Stewart's Never a Dull Moment - Mercury original

In memory of drummer Micky Waller who stepped on a rainbow on May 6, 2008.

I've been listening to several Rod albums this weekend to listen to his fine drumming. I should probably put on some Jeff Beck next. :excited: No ones home to tell me to turn it down.

R.I.P.

At the end of,"You Wear It Well" it sounds like he skips or misses a beat but somehow it just works. Ian McLagan is all over those early Rod albums as well. What a great backing band.

Booker Ervin "The In Between" Blue Note 84283 liberty.

I suppose all of you know this record. What an incredible session ! What an extraordinary tenorman was Booker...

Good reminder to dig that one out again. A gem !

Now spinning Lee Morgan/John Coltrane 'Best Of Birdland' (French Vogue). One side of 'Trane, the other of Morgan/Shorter.
