king ubu
spin span spun? I played some vinyl a couple of days ago... including several of those great Tadd Dameron boots on various Boris Rose labels, and also again the wonderful Don Joseph Uptown album. I need to get that record player fixed and moved to where I spend most of my time... (it's a Lenco L-75 or whatever that was, the "classical" one... I guess it's worth getting it fixed, something about the speed adjustment of the motor isn't properly functioning, and often when I put it in use again after a few weeks, it will take a while until it settles at a constant speed, while before it slows down painfully for several times, and I have to switch it off and on again several times...) Daniel A
I guess it's worth getting it fixed, something about the speed adjustment of the motor isn't properly functioning If it's not the switch itself, a common problem on some older turntables with idler-wheel drive is that the rubber on the wheel has dried out so that it doesn't drive the platter correctly. Shannon Dickey
Right now: Coleman Hawkins "SIRIUS" Pablo. Before that: Doug Watkins "WATKINS AT LARGE" Classic Records 200 gram Quiex SV-P. Super sweet LP, orig. TRANSITION 20, with Hank Mobley, Donald Byrd, Kenny Burrell, Duke Jordan and Art Taylor. I really dig this one! Teasing the Korean
Bill Russo - Seven Deadly Sins - Roulette (mono). No where near as great as the cover. Pretty ponderous stuff - I can only imagine how Johnny Richards or Pete Rugolo would have approached this subject. Still, it was nice reading about Russo's love of Plato, brandy, Mozart and Brooks Brothers suits.
