Kevin Bresnahan Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Tommy Flanagan - Super Session (InnerCity). As I've found to be typical of InnerCity pressings, this is pretty bad. Warped to almost skipping. Great music though. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted May 8, 2014 Report Posted May 8, 2014 Tina Brooks - True Blue (Blue Note/Music Matters). New 33 rpm release. Beautiful sonics for one of my favorite Blue Note recordings. Unfortunately, there's a bit of dish warp on Side 1. My clamp minimizes it on Side 2 but it's still a bummer considering the price. Quote

At fifty bucks a pop, Music Matters shouldn't sell warped records. Quote

Leeway Posted May 9, 2014 Report Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Roscoe Mitchell - OLD QUARTET - Nessa LP. Seems like the guys were having a good time at this session from the cameraderie and session chatter. Edited May 9, 2014 by Leeway Quote

Leeway Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 (edited) It's 7" time! (so saith the Wife of Bath). UND JETZT DI SPORTSCHAU (fur Evan Parker) - Globe Unity '75 - Trost 7" Ever wonder what it would sound like if Chuck Berry joined Globe Unity? It would sound like this little vinyl. ABET?! - Mats Gustafsson, Ken Vandermark, Ab Baars, Paal Nilssen-Love - Terp Records 7" One side is solo Gustafsson on bari. The other side is KV, AB, and PNL. Love Ship / Mama Love Papa Love - Arthur Doyle- Audible Hiss 7" I recall a review in Cadence where the reviewer was freaked out by Doyle's singing and playing; well, here's some of it. I'd like more. Couldn't find a pic to insert (Discogs won't allow a link) so this will do. I'm not sure there was a pic; the copy I have only has a photostat of Doyle reclining pleasantly on his side, may have been added. The sleeve only has a typed list of the songs on each side. GUSTAFSSON LINDSJO - "Pull Up a Chair and Get Dirty/ Play In Dirt And Chop It Up - Treffpunkt 7" Edited May 10, 2014 by Leeway Quote
Leeway Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 SHIFT - Mats Gustafsson (bari), Sebastian Bergstrom (p), Joacim Nyberg (b), Emil Astrand-Melin (d). NoBusiness LP. Quote
colinmce Posted May 10, 2014 Report Posted May 10, 2014 Leeway, I highly recommend you grab the new Mats CD Torturing the Saxophone if you haven't already. It collates 3 one-sided LPs (99 copies each!) of MG doing Duke, Ayler, and "Danny's Dream". The bonus is an aggrieved letter to Mats from R. Crumb detailing his extreme negative reaction to this music. Hence the title... Quote
