mjzee Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 I don't blame you, Blue Train. But you should definitely check out the Sunshine Daydream concert (Veneta, OR); there's a Dark Star that's simply stunning. Quote
Blue Train Posted August 8, 2013 Report Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) Closing of Winterland is one of the few post 74 I have. It breaks most of what everyone thinks went South with the Dead.....yet, there is one of the rare post-1974 Dark Star performances. Edited August 8, 2013 by Blue Train Quote
coooltrane Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 Still chewing on the May '77, Spring '90 and DaP's Vol 7. I need about one full weekend to just listen to the Dead and get caught up on my collection. Oh then there's two Road Trips and one realgone music DP's I bought Quote
mjzee Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Listening now to the 8/6/71 portion of DP 35. Wow. More and more, I think Bill Kreutzmann is the unsung hero of the Dead. He is their propulsion, their energy center. His playing is easily the equal of the others in the band. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 My latest is DP 31 8/74 Great playing from all especially Lesh. Yes Bill is a groove master Vocal suffer especially Bob - WRS is very weak Quote

Yes Bill is a groove master Vocal suffer especially Bob - WRS is very weak I was at the Jersey City concert. I remember being so surprised to see a clean-shaven Jerry, and I remember Seastones playing over the Wall of Sound during intermission. That was the last time I saw the Dead. Quote

jazzbo Posted September 6, 2013 Author Report Posted September 6, 2013 I skipped the '90 but I'm in for LOM. Quote
coooltrane Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Release date October 15: I will likely pick this and Vol 2 up. Still on the fence whether to replace my CDR and DVD' Rs of Veneta, Oregon Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted September 19, 2013 Report Posted September 19, 2013 Just picked up Sunshine Daydream with the DVD Listening to disc 1 - sounds great Will watch the DVD this weekend Quote
jazzbo Posted September 19, 2013 Author Report Posted September 19, 2013 Got the Blu-ray and CD set in the mail yesterday. Watched half the Blu-ray this morning. Looks and sounds darned good. Quote
Steve Reynolds Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 I was going to spring for the blu ray but I saw the cd set plus DVD in my local Barnes & Noble and I scooped it up Quote
coooltrane Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 You know you're gonna... probably. It's not limited edition . . which puts it furthur (pun firmly intended) away from the top of the list Quote
mjzee Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Listening now to DP 36 (9/21/72, Philadephia) - just amazing. Quote
coooltrane Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Garcia Live Vol. 1 --- gearing up for furthur next weekend Quote
coooltrane Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 after having seen two Berkeley and one Vegas Furthur shows, I can say that my interest in all things Dead related is thoroughly renewed. Great shows Quote
vajerzy Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Starting to visit the Dave's Picks again- didn't subscribe to this year's CDs- wish I did. I'll looks for them on Ebay. Amazes me how good they sound. Quote
mjzee Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 I just started listening to the 1978 concert. Fun stuff; the band has a looseness more akin to pre-1974 Dead. Quote
coooltrane Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Dave's Picks Vol 8 Sold out in 4 days. Long live the Brent years. Quote
mjzee Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Is that the last release in this year's subscription? Quote
mr jazz Posted October 12, 2013 Report Posted October 12, 2013 Not sure I'll keep it but I have fond memories of my show at the fabulous Fox earlier that year. Quote
