Dan Gould Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 We're talking medical injections here, not piercings or tattoos. Quote
JSngry Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 What kind of medicine are we talking about? Quote
7/4 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I thought this was going to be about record needles. Quote

wesbed Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I'm curious to learn of Soulstation1's thoughts on needles after his dental appointment today. B-) Quote
rachel Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 I don't mind injections for dental work. The topical anesthetic tastes kinda good, and you don't even feel the injection (except for the one in the roof of your mouth; that one kinda 'hurts good'). As for other injections, I don't mind subcu. injections (had to do it to myself for a year, no big deal as long as you have a nice tiny 27 gauge). Not too fond of intramuscular injections. Can't stand to have blood drawn; I have to look completely away and try to think "happy thoughts". What's really cool is watching the injections that were done for cataract surgery back in the day before drop anesthesia was used. Right behind the eye... awesome. Quote

rachel Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 When I said "awesome", I meant it in a totally scientific context.... yup.... Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted August 3, 2004 Report Posted August 3, 2004 They don't really bother me, though I can't quite claim to look forward to receiving them. I never look at them either; just lety the nurse or doctor do their thing in peace. Dental injections are even milder unless they hit a nerve. That happened to me once and I felt it for weeks afterwards... Ouch!!! Quote
BeBop Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 Shots have saved my life twice. So I tend to see them as - if not positive - as necessary evils. Quote
Adam Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 I've stopped in Needles CA a few times. It's always hot, and the gas is costly. Quote
Brad Posted August 4, 2004 Report Posted August 4, 2004 When I was a kid, I'd scream like a stuck pig. My mother used to bribe me with ice cream cones. I still don't like 'em too much. When I have to get one I pinch another part of my body so I don't have to focus on the needle. Yeah, I'm strange. Quote
chris olivarez Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I've stopped in Needles CA a few times. It's always hot, and the gas is costly. And that's just stopping in one of their restaurants. Quote
chris olivarez Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I used to have them stuck in me a lot when I was a kid so I learned to deal with them early on. However when one of those needles draws blood I have gotten light headed but I didn't go down for the count. Quote

BERIGAN Posted August 5, 2004 Report Posted August 5, 2004 I used to have them stuck in me a lot when I was a kid so I learned to deal with them early on. However when one of those needles draws blood I have gotten light headed but I didn't go down for the count. I used to love having them draw blood out of my arm, had no problem watching it, either. At least it didn't hurt like those dopes that would dig into your finger for a few drops...then I had mono and when they took blood, the combo of being hungry and sick made me about pass out...so that crosses my mind when they take blood out, and I can't watch it anymore.... Dan Gould Posted August 5, 2004 Author Report Posted August 5, 2004 I went through a three day comprehensive medical check-up seven years ago in preparation to be a bone marrow transplant donor. Each morning, my first stop at the hospital was the blood drawing clinic, where they filled at least a dozen vials to be sent off for tests. That never bothered me a bit, and I can definitely say that the nurses liked dealing with me because unlike most of their patients, my veins have always been easy to find. Quote
