How is Doin Allright?

Doin Allright is terrific and shouldn't be missed.

I still haven't voted on this one becaue its really impossible to choose. It would be easier to pick the least favorites which would be Dexter's Calling, Landslide and Our Man in Paris but only because I reach for those less frequently than Doin Allright, One Flight Up, Go and Swingin' Affair.

But they're all great. Just those latter four are a bit greater for me. :P

Was surprised to realize I could still vote on this one ... and I went with One Flight Up. That would be followed by:

Doin Allright

Swingin' Affair

Go

Clubhouse

Gettin Around

Our Man In Paris

Dexter's Calling/Landslide

I almost voted for "One Flight Up", which has been in constant rotation since the RVG came out. I had never heard it before, and it was mind-blowing. But in the end, "Go" played a huge part in getting me into jazz, and it will probably always be my favorite.

i have the pre-RVG cd "one flight up". is there any reason to get the RVG?

is it an upgrade? is there ANY discernable difference in sound quality?

mine sounds pretty darn good!

B-)

never did get an answer to this question!

:P:lol:

Re the poll: Don't forget this one (which I haven't heard):

Never heard of that one. Did Francis produce it?

My favourites of those keep changing but, on the basis of how much I play them, #1 is one no one else seems to like - 'Gettin' around'. I like it partly because Dex doesn't seem to be trying too hard and there's some kind of aural connection to Frank Haynes in the way he's playing.

Next is '1 flight up', another in which EASE is the predominant factor for me.

(Then 'CLubhouse' and 'Go')
