ghost of miles Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 I have the George Russell & the Hal McKusick, as well as the ARRANGERS cd, mentioned elsewhere, that contains the Johnny Carisi session. What else came out in this RCA series? Quote
ghost of miles Posted September 22, 2004 Author Report Posted September 22, 2004 A quick AMG search yields two others: and this one: Manny Albam Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 I believe this is the entire output: Al Cohn (LPM 1161) Hal Schaefer (LPM 1199) Manny Albam (LPM 1211) Billy Byers (LPM 1269) Hal McKusick (LPM 1366) John Carisi (LPM 1371 - not issued) George Russell (LPM 1372) Mike Quote
Free For All Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Wasn't there some Rod Levitt stuff in there too? Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Don't think that was part of the Jazz Workshop series. The Levitt was much later (1964-65). The others were all 1955-56. You might be getting confused because there was the Bluebird CD The Arrangers that had the Carisi and McKusick Jazz Workshop stuff along with Levitt material. Mike Quote
Larry Kart Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 The Rod Levitt RCA albums were not part of the Jazz Workshop series. The Levitts (mid-1960s) were recorded almost a decade later on and were produced by Brad McCuen, not Jack Lewis (the man behind the Jazz Workshop series). Quote
Michael Fitzgerald Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Hey man, IS, not WAS - http://www.nova.edu/novasingers/Hal_Schaefer.htm Mike Quote
Tony Pusey Posted September 22, 2004 Report Posted September 22, 2004 Is this stuff on cd anywhere? And in what quality? Quote
brownie Posted September 23, 2004 Report Posted September 23, 2004 Most of the Jazz Workshop albums have been reissued by RCA Spain and are available via Fresh Sounds. The only reissue I heard is the Hal McKusick and the sound does not compare - even by far - to the sound of the original LP (or even the French RCA LP reissue). Quote

The sound of many Fresh Sound reissues pales in comparison to the originals. Quote
