i dream of starting a new coverart/GIF thread!

To match your cool avatar, how about "The Complete Works Of David Stone Martin"? You could begin with this one:

i saw your avatar and thought it pretty cool, too.

of course i'm a DSM fanatic...

but have you ever cheked out the work of MICHIHARU SATOME?

his work is very informed by stone martin's.

below are 3 quick, if not fancy, examples.

I like this art alot, and "see" Dolphy (and Basie, Ellington, Brubeck, etc.) but that just don't look like Coltrane to me. Looks more like.....I dunno, just not Coltrane.

forgive me, it *is* saotome...

the work i posted is among what i consider the least of his work.

he illustrates a page in swing journal each month that way surpasses this coverart.

the current december issue has a bitchin' miles 'n' cannonball from 1958.

it seems michiharu-san's work is less graphic than DSM's, but is cool nonetheless.

hey, thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

now about that herbalife...

I was about to post a welcome yesterday when I read that you were on a Horst Jankowski kick... and decided I'ld better abstain.

But you seem to be all right. You should be in good company here!

So a warm welcome to you!

And what's gotten in to you? ;)

I don't get kicks out of Jankowski ... and tolerate a passion for his music only from people I know who have broad tastes which seems to be the case for this newbie :P

I remember hearing Jankowski's 1965 hit Eine Schwarzwaldfahrt (the English translation was A Walk in the Black Forest...) ad nauseam everywhere while on vacation in the Black Forest that year...

i'm the only person i know who can listen to "coltrane at birdland" followed by a morricone soundtrack punctuated by devo's "duty now for the future"...
