Brad Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I accidentally discovered that he is now posting on AAJ and responding to questions there. Call me perverse or whatever (I'm not sure I'm using that word right) but I find it somewhat humorous that he's posting at a board after he brought down the BNBB. Nonetheless, I'm certain I'll monitor the thread. Quote
pryan Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I don't find it weird (or perverse), he's just trying to sell BN stuff. I used to think Tom was cool, but he shut down the board (along with others, admittedly) and now I don't really care what he does or where he posts. Quote
Brad Posted December 2, 2004 Author Report Posted December 2, 2004 I guess that's the whole point. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Tom is what he is, both good and bad, and does what he does. We're all probably the better off for the BNBB having closed (I know I am). I neither hate Tom now, nor look up to him quite the way I did back in the day (hanging on his every post to certain kinds of threads, about reissues and new releases, etc...). As Sangry would say, it's all business. That sure as hell ain't all good, but it ain't all bad either. It just is what it is. Quote
JSngry Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 One flurry of answers from Tom on that thread a while back, and nothing since. Quote
Dan Gould Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 One flurry of answers from Tom on that thread a while back, and nothing since. Tell me that doesn't sound familiar! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 But then sometimes we asked obscure questions, and get quick answers back -- even the same day. I know, not that often (once in a blue moon maybe). But I remember one time starting a thread about this obscure BN title from the early 90's (with an orchestra), and I got a pretty good response from Tom in short order, like in less than an hour. But then the usual was hit-n-miss, most of the time. Quote
Brandon Burke Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I can't believe you guys are still hung up on Tom and the demise of BNBB. I completely understand Blue Note's unwillingness to monitor/support a bulletin board that, as time went on, was less and less dedicated to their product. Gimmie a break... And no it's not ironic that he posted on another board. That's about as ironic as him going to a record shop and buying an LP when Blue Note itself doesn't press LPs. Personal decision on his part. AfricaBrass Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Tomatbluenote may be at AAJ, but we've got Tomatobluenote here. Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 (edited) Fuck, I just noticed Cat Shatner, the Red-Nosed Raincat. Edit: Doesn't he need a nose that glows slightly?? Edited December 2, 2004 by Rooster_Ties Quote
AfricaBrass Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I got a new one some time ago. spiffy new look too. I like the blue. Is it one of those spanish reissues? Make sure you keep an eye on this one... you never know it could end up at the Jazzcorner. Quote

AfricaBrass Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 Fuck, I just noticed Cat Shatner, the Red-Nosed Raincat. Edit: Doesn't he need a nose that glows slightly?? I wouldn't be surprised if the nose lit up around Christmas. For now, he's keeping it off because of the problem with Yukon Cornelius. I know they're buddies, but ol' YK has stalker tendencies and he just can't leave our hero alone. Heck, he's even creeped out the Bumble. It's so uncomfortable that Hermie the dentist doesn't even come around much anymore. It's so bad, YK doesn't even go out looking for tinsel anymore. In this light, since the nose basically functions as a beacon, it's staying off until later this month. Quote

Actually, he's been drinking too much Bailey's. It keeps him warm at night. Without his little Star Trek uniform, he's freezing. Quote
The Red Menace Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 I do not blame Comrade Tom for the ultimate demise of the Blue Note board. Blue Note's snubbing of THIS board I do find highly irritating. (And they ARE aware of this board, comrades!!!) At this point, though, I say only this: YOUR LOSS!!! And now back to my Leo Parker records. B-) Quote
maren Posted December 2, 2004 Report Posted December 2, 2004 (edited) I got a new one some time ago. spiffy new look too. Ooohhh! (Did you know the Romanian name for eggplant translates as "blue tomato"?) Edited December 2, 2004 by maren Quote
