jazzbo Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Okay, I went to see Elektra yesterday. I couldn't resist; I'm a fan of Jennifer Garner's and I liked her depiction of the character in the Daredevil film. (I don't watch Alias though, but she sure does have a unique look and style there). I would have liked to see a different treatment of the character, but the movie delivered for fans of Jennifer. Anyone else take the plunge? Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 First I thought it was about Strauss's opera, then about Erroll. Then I crash emotionally. Quote
Big Al Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Probably won't see it. I mean, I liked her in Daredevil and all, but my perception of her was eternally changed by 13 Going on 30. What can I say? She's just so danged CUTE! Make no mistake, though: I think she's still hot!!! Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) Anybody here see Jennifer Garner's first and maybe only appearance on The Daily Show?? It was something like three or four years ago, and she was promoting Alias, which was brand new at that time). She came off well, but seemed pretty young and wide-eyed. Then something, perhaps the mention of a recent birthday of hers? - prompted her to reveal that she was like 30 or maybe even 31 years old. I swear, the entire audience -- plus John Stewart -- let out a very audible gasp, and John was totally beside himself for half a beat (as was the audience, I suspect). She recoiled slightly, a bit in horror, obviously wondering if something was suddenly terribly amiss (not understanding why the audience gasped, or maybe seeming not understand -- who knows which??? -- we’ll never know). John recovered a second later, and passed it off as if now everyone in the audience suddenly knew that she couldn't be trusted (after all, "don't trust anyone over 30") ..... or something funny like that. But more to the point -- I swear that was one of THE most pronounced and genuine audience reactions I've ever seen/heard, in all my days. Everyone in that room sounded like they were in shock that this sweetheart of a gal, cute as a bug, was thirty -- when she didn't seem a day over 22, or maybe not even one second over 19. Anybody else remember that?? Edited January 18, 2005 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 I didn't see that, but it reminds me of this past weekend. I went to a funeral for the father of a great college friend of mine, and in the process hooked up with other college friends and their wives. At dinner we were talking and they asked my wife, who none of them have really gotten to know yet, how old she was and when she said 31, they were shocked. They thought she was younger than me (I'm 27) and thus younger than them! She liked that, to say the least. Quote
BERIGAN Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) First I thought it was about Strauss's opera, then about Erroll. Then I crash emotionally. And I thought it was a thread about James Garner driving a Buick Electra! She is cute, and looks/acts like a much younger woman, it is hard to believe she is as old as she is.(Not OLD, just old) Edited January 18, 2005 by BERIGAN Quote
king ubu Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Love Chuck's post! And confess liking Garner a lot! However, I never saw anything else but "Alias" (which I hope to restart here soon... waiting gets long...) Oh well, I say no more... ubu Quote

Rooster_Ties Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Date of birth (location) 17 April 1972 Houston, Texas, USA Yup, she would have been about 29 or 30 when I saw her on The Daily Show. Quote
Alexander Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) In the mid to late 80s, Frank Miller (who created Elektra in the pages of "Daredevil") and Bill Sienkiewicz produced the superb "Elektra: Assassin" mini-series, which has been collected in paperback form for those who are interested. To me, the series is the final word on the character. Edited January 18, 2005 by Alexander Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted January 18, 2005 Report Posted January 18, 2005 Probably Bill Sienkiewicz's best work, next to his Moby Dick, IMO!!! Quote
