Soul Stream Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 Got an email today announcing AAJ's first ever FUND DRIVE to help musicians, ect. Sound familiar? Anyway, it's all good. Glad to see more help on the way! But it's nice to know Organissimo lead the way. Quote
Daniel A Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I did not get this mail, it might have been sorted out as spam. Did it say if they did have any special musicians in mind? Quote
Soul Stream Posted March 22, 2005 Author Report Posted March 22, 2005 I guess I'm mistaken. Their fund drive is to fund themselves. Not to help musicians (ie the Eric Kloss drive). Sorry for the confusion. Although their e-mail makes it sound like they're helping musicians as well. A little misleading to me. Quote
Bill Fenohr Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 I received the email and from what i could gather they are looking for money to add new content to their site. They seem to be claiming that by adding what ever they are looking to add that it will benifit musicians. It sounds to me like they may have money problems. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 It's got to be expensive to run that site. A lot of information on there and very well programmed. For us working musicians, it's a great resource. With a click of a button you can get a huge list of clubs, festivals, and radio stations from all over the country. Give 'em a little bread if you can! Quote

Guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I guess I'm mistaken. Their fund drive is to fund themselves. Not to help musicians (ie the Eric Kloss drive). Sorry for the confusion. Although their e-mail makes it sound like they're helping musicians as well. A little misleading to me. I must make a comment: DO you even know a thing about this blind jazz saxophonist? It does not sound like you do. Ignorance is so sad. He was born pre-mature way back in the time that there was not as much knowledge on how to help someone born premature and is blind all his life, but can see what we can never see and is gifted and has given us the beautiful opportunity to enjoy his musical talents. He also was a teacher as well at the Western Pa School for the blind as was his father Dr. Alton Kloss. Eric is lucky to be alive. He is well known on the Mister Rogers Neighborhood for 30 years, recognized at the White House, on the Today Show, On the Mike Douglas show. He is a good person and so is his wife Candee. He has many health problems and when one does like Eric, it can take all you own to keep up with medical care. Their point is to get back on their feet and then help other forthcoming young musicians make their mark with their beautiful talents like Eric has given us all. You should not be so rude making comments when you do not have all the facts. Your health is everything and I know first hand as I have health issues as well and am financially strained, and I understand their position. Quote
JSngry Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Easy now... http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=17357 Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I sent the poster a pm suggesting the same. Not a good way to be introduced to a forum. Quote

Aggie87 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 I hope you're right, Moose... My first thought was that this was the return of Musicboy, here to shut us down with his 'connections' within the music business. And I'm not posting that gratuitous picture of musicboy drumming (only cuz i can't find it ) Quote
md655321 Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Um. What exactly was the 'rude' coment anyways? I dont know howyou cold possibly read his post as insulting to Eric Kloss. Quote
Guest Posted February 23, 2006 Report Posted February 23, 2006 Um. What exactly was the 'rude' coment anyways? I dont know howyou cold possibly read his post as insulting to Eric Kloss. Hello, my response was to a posting on here from someone who suggests that Eric Kloss was only intending to help himself and not help others as mentioned. I thought it a little rough. It is my understanding that the intention is that when Eric got back on his feet again financially, then monies from the fund drive for Eric would be extended to help other musicians with their situations,etc.. The posting was from a year ago, and I felt like commenting on it. Eric is seriously ill and yes, does have financial problems due to his health condition. As a blind musician, he has given us all a wonderful gift as all talented performers do. It is not uncommon for people to do this, whether it be a organ transplant or whatever health condition, people to help themselves first as extreme medical expenses can leave one in dire straits. Fund drives happen all the time to defray medical costs for people seriously ill. My intention was not to be mean in any way, but to always be aware of the up to date situation is in this fellows situation or anyone elses as well. Yes, I am new on here and spoke my opinion in which we are all entitled to. Thankyou for asking what I responded to. Quote

APOLOGY: Just want to say, a complete misunderstanding and all is now straightened out. I thankyou for your concern. It was explained to me by another member and now I know what was up with the comment I read and reacted to. If only folks would completely mention in their postings what issue they are speaking about and why with more clarity. I am brand new on here and not a former member, so this forum is somewhat greek to me, I apologize to whomever. THANKYOU ALL. Quote
md655321 Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 With all due respect, there was still complete clarity in his post. Judge less severely and attempt to understand things before going off on others and there wont be any problems. To still try to pain this as an issue where a poster wasnt been clear is disingenous, imo. But anyways, welcome to the board! We love Eric Kloss here! Quote
