Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I have passed an old organ out on someone's front lawn on the way to classes everyday for the past two weeks. Thinking it would be gone with every day, I finally got my dad to go take me and get a look at it. I don't what it was. It had a some pedals toward the left end, it didn't go all the way from each side of the bottom of the organ. It basically looked like your average hammond. Looked kind of beaten up. Mooving it, the board to cover the electrical wiring came off. What are the odds this thing works? PS We didn't take it. We could hardly carry it. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 (edited) like dis? if so it's a hammond spinet ss1 Edited May 8, 2005 by Soulstation1 Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 Exactly! it was basically a piece of shit, but I wanted to at least get it home and check it out. Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 (edited) total guess, it probably weighs 200-300 lbs Edited May 8, 2005 by Soulstation1 Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 No kidding. My dad might get a hold of a van to bring it back to the house, to see what's up with it. Quote
Aggie87 Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 You would steal something from someone's property? once again, NOT cool. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 It was obviously out for garbage bub! Let's both try and think before we speak/write. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 How much are those bass pedals actually useful? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 The bass pedals on spinets are pretty sucky. But you can at least learn "heal/toe" on them. If it's an M100 (the first picture ss1 posted) that's a decent Hammond to learn on. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 8, 2005 Author Report Posted May 8, 2005 If it works..I think if it worked, they'd sell it, not throw it out. I better just save up my money. Quote
Guy Berger Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 No kidding. My dad might get a hold of a van to bring it back to the house, to see what's up with it. I think you'll have to get a pretty good Father's Day gift this year... Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 9, 2005 Author Report Posted May 9, 2005 Nah, he's not gonna get it. He's hoping I forget about it. I'm just gonna move on.. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 I have passed an old organ out on someone's front lawn on the way to classes everyday for the past two weeks. In most neighborhoods someone would file a complaint and have the person arrested. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 11, 2005 Author Report Posted May 11, 2005 Yeah, because when people take the garbage out of my garbage can, I get really mad! The organ was picked up by the sanatation department today. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 11, 2005 Author Report Posted May 11, 2005 That is nuts. Getting arrested for taking someone else's garbage. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chuck, I can't wait to see your post. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 That is nuts. Getting arrested for taking someone else's garbage. I was speaking of "old organs" seen by passing schoolkids. Geez. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Chuck, I can't wait to see your post. I see this whole event has had an unfortunate influence on your desires. Quote
Jazz Kat Posted May 12, 2005 Author Report Posted May 12, 2005 I think I had an overdose of today. It's been a pleasure Mr Nessa! Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 sounds like "Punch-Drunk Love" to me. Quote

JSngry Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 I was speaking of "old organs" seen by passing schoolkids. And I'm thinking of the discomfort those schoolkids must've endured whilst passing those old organs. To say nothing of the messy cleanup that the homeowners no doubt had to perform. This drives home the importance of insuring that all neighborhoods have safe and plentiful public restrooms. Quote
