Hardbopjazz Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 (edited) It's been at least 2 years since Mosaic has had their 20% off sale. Did they totally stop doing this? I always made sure to pick up at least 1 set during that time. Edited May 19, 2005 by Hardbopjazz Quote
John Tapscott Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I'm guessing they don't need them anymore, since the Selects seem to be such good sellers and give them a pretty good cash flow. I recently got the Brookmeyer set, #3405. Now I know that we don't get these in order and so on, but I suspect that this relatively high number after only a year indicates that this one is a good seller. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 The last 20% sale must be about 4 years ago now. Their last couple of sales have been (1) 10% off and (2) free shipping, I believe. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 19, 2005 Author Report Posted May 19, 2005 Why don't you ask Mosaic? ← I did ask them. I received an email back, that they have no plans on running a sale at any point. Quote
J.A.W. Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Why don't you ask Mosaic? ← I did ask them. I received an email back, that they have no plans on running a sale at any point. ← Well, there's the answer to the question in your first post if they totally stopped doing this, then. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 19, 2005 Author Report Posted May 19, 2005 Yes and no. Why not do one? You should see an increase in sales. Quote
neveronfriday Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 a) Mosaic is not a humanitarian effort. b) They seem to be quite comfortanle with what they have, so ... Quote
Ed S Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Seemed to me that the Mosaic sales were a result of an attempt to better manage inventory, and yes, optimize cash flow. I'm guessing they have got the typical pattern of sales down to a science by now and I'm guessing it's big sales at the beginning of a release cycle followed by stagnation for months, then a jump in volume once it hits the running low status. There's no sense in pressing sets and have them occupy warehouse space when they don't sell as fast as new releases or endangered sets. I think the sales were intended to clear out stagnant inventory. Once that was accomplished, there's no need to incentivize sales as new releases and endangered sets sell themselves. Quote
Brad Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 To embellish, sales are there for a reason and if there isn't the reason, well, then.... Quote
Kalo Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 Bummed I missed the sales. (Where was I?) Glad Mosaic is still around. I guess it evens out. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 That 20% LP set sale was the best. A great time to stock up on the 'Miles' sets. Quote
Alfred Posted May 20, 2005 Report Posted May 20, 2005 (edited) I prefer the $5/CD discounts during these "Mosaic-True Blue-cooperation"-sales. A Classic Records LP for only $24.90!!! Edited May 20, 2005 by Alfred Quote
sal Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 20 % is such a low number... -_- ← Actually, no....its not. Quote
Quincy Posted May 30, 2005 Report Posted May 30, 2005 20 % is such a low number... -_- ← Actually, no....its not. ← It would be ever so slightly better than 20% off, and a very narrow targeted sale at that, but I'd love it if they did a buy the Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions and get 1 Select for free. It would be just the push I (and several others here) need. Quote
