Bob Enevoldsen death reports

Bob was a talented musician with a very distinctive sound and phrasing on valve trombone. Once you'd heard his playing, you could always identify it from then on. He has some fine solos on the Bill Holman Band Live! Cd (JazzEd Media), recorded in 2004. (He was 84 at the time! and his playing sounds just as it did in the West Coast jazz days of the '50's and with the Terry Gibbs Band). R.I.P.

He indeed played tenor saxophone. He can be heard on the instrument on several sides that were included in 'The Complete Nocturne Recordings', vol. 1 that was produced by Fresh Sound. A highly recommended set!

Enevoldsen plays also tenor (and valve trombone of course!)on the Bob Enevoldsen Quintet album that came out on Tampa and was reissued invinyl days by VSOP. The quintet also include Marty Paich on piano and accordion, Red Michell on bass, Don Heath on drums and Larry Bunker on vibes and drums. Enevoldsen plays excellent tenor on 'Topsy' and a couple of other tracks.
