ghost of miles Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 The past couple of days I've gotten "cannot find server" several times when I've tried to launch a search. Problem w/my computer, or is anybody else experiencing this? Quote
Jim R Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Fwiw, it worked fine for me yesterday, and I just used it a minute ago with no snags. Quote
couw Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 the board has been real s-l-o-w this european evening, timing out several times and producing SQL errors at others, I guess the slow searches are part of this package Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 We seem to be reaching our limits with users. I'm trying to find a way to solve the problem, but the slow-downs have been caused by upwards of 100 connections to the database at one time. Even if the board says "58 users in the past 10 minutes", for some reason it's keeping connections open after the person has left, which is slowing everything down. Give me some time to research the problem. In the meantime, if the board starts dogging heavily, please don't keep trying to access it. Walk away and try again in about 10 minutes. Thanks! ----Jim Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 For the time being, I turned on the "Server Load Limit" option of the board, which means if we have a lot of traffic, you might get a message saying that the board is busy. This should keep things from slowing down to a crawl. Now I just have to call tech support and see what we can do about this. Quote
Big Wheel Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Off topic, but what happened to the little dot that appears on the envelope to denote topics that you've replied to? Seems like it just disappeared today, but maybe I haven't been paying attention. Quote
