Soulstation1 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 i like this show even though no skill or knowledge is needed plus the ladies aren't that bad either Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 I've watched bits and pieces, and definitely seen enough to have learned: People are both greedy and dumb. I saw one contestant refuse $48,000 when all that was left was $50,000 and $300,000, and a handful of tiny amounts. I mean how stupid can anyone be? They're offered the equivalent of the second highest prize, guaranteed, but because there's a big number left, they refuse it. And they lose. I did see the end of Friday's show, and I am kinda curious if the cute girl is going to be smart enough to take the last offer. But considering what the show has already demonstrated, I expect that she will be greedy and dumb. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 (edited) Not that I'm saying I'm any better than anyone else... But, honestly, I've never seen any of this show -- not even 5-seconds worth (not even 2-seconds). I have no idea what night of the week it's on, no idea what network it's on (I'm guessing ABC - a replacement for Millionaire, wasn't that on ABC??). No idea how the game works, or anything else about it. Wait, I saw 30-seconds of an SNL parody of the show, and I vaguely remember that luggage was somehow involved That's all I know, officer, every bit - I swear. Jazzmoose Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 You're ahead of me! This is the first I've ever heard of it, but then I just don't watch anything any more after moving... Quote
ejp626 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Like most game shows of the 1990s/2000s, this has been imported from the UK. I saw it once in a hotel in Dublin. I thought it was dumb. Can't imagine the US version is any better. Quote
Stereojack Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Like most game shows of the 1990s/2000s, this has been imported from the UK. I saw it once in a hotel in Dublin. I thought it was dumb. Can't imagine the US version is any better. The show is on several times a week. I swear every time I turn on the TV, there it is. Have never watched it - absolutely can't stand Howie Mandel - but I did see the SNL spoof where they suggested that the game is a bit confusing. Quote
Christiern Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Far from intellectually stimulating, but, nevertheless, absorbing. It beats watching the truly dumb situation "comedies" that seem to be everywhere. I am also sick of "Law and Order," which definitely is everywhere. That said, I never miss an episode of "The Young and the Restless"--that's what happens when one works at home. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Haven't seen the show yet, but $$1 has a good eye for comedy, so I'll try and watch it. When does it come on? Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Have never watched it - absolutely can't stand Howie Mandel - but Oh my God that's Howie Mandel - I swear I could not place that face (guess the soul patch and shaved head threw me) ... and yet it was so darn familiar looking. Quote
RDK Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 Funny thing was, i had never heard of the show until SNL did their parody of it. Then we watched it only to find the satire dead-on accurate. Yeah, it's a dumb show with no "talent" needed by any of the contestants, but it is remarkably absorbing, like watching someone play an incredibly loose slot machine.... Quote
