sidewinder Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 And tickets available from $2.50 to $6.00 ! Ah, those must have been the days.. Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 They used the image on the poster for the LP cover. Well, they did in Britain anyway. But the colours were different. The background was red. That was the first Miles Davis I bought. MG Quote
JSngry Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 They used it on the US LP too. Made the orange a little redder on my later (1970s) copy, although I think I've seen older issues that actually were orange. Quote
Claude Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 (edited) The current (1998) CD release cover: Edited July 22, 2006 by Claude Quote

Kalo Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 That poster is amazing. The hand lettering looks so much better than the typesetting on the LP cover. Quote
BruceH Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Hand-lettering wins (almost) every time! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 22, 2006 Report Posted July 22, 2006 Hand-lettering wins (almost) every time! Isn't what Reid Miles did on BN sleeves hand lettering? That seems to be the same as on the Miles Davis cover. Or am I looking at this wrong? MG Quote
JSngry Posted July 22, 2006 Author Report Posted July 22, 2006 (edited) The current (1998) CD release cover: That looks kinda orange to me. Not quite red, but not quite orange either. Should have called it Kind Of Red, put it together with Birth Of The Cool retitled Kind Of White, and put them both out together with Kind Of Blue as MILES! The I LOVE AMERICA Trilogy. And they wonder why jazz doesn't sell. Edited July 22, 2006 by JSngry Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 I got the lp when first issued. I remember the color halfway between the poster and the covers shown. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted July 23, 2006 Report Posted July 23, 2006 BTW, when I first saw the topic I thought it was going to be about Bright Moments, 7/4, Chaney or Chewie. Quote

chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted July 25, 2006 Report Posted July 25, 2006 On my LP copy, I've retitled it w/ Sharpie: HANK MOBLEY + HIS ORCH Quote
