Joe G Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 This company calls me probably 4-5 times a week. I finally found their website, and on the contact page was this address: dontcall@xentel.com I sent a request to be removed from the list. We'll see what happens. Quote
catesta Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) I get all kinds of shit calls at work, but I don't take any of them. As for home....., well, I haven't had a home phone for the last 5-6 years. Multiple cell phones is the ticket. What does this company sell? Edited August 15, 2006 by catesta Quote
Joe G Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 They are a paid fundraising company, so they call asking for donations for everything from firefighter and police associations, to breast cancer research. I have my own charitable interests which I'm supporting, and am really tired of getting a plea everyday. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Have you registered at the "do not call" site? Quote

GA Russell Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 I believe that charities and political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call list. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Well, they stopped for me when I registered. Not on the "business" line though. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Fuckers call me almost everyday. I never pick up. Quote
Free For All Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Fuckers call me almost everyday. I never pick up. And all this time I just thought you weren't home. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 These guys harass the crap out of us too. Once you have some kind of history of giving something to them, they'll hound you for the rest of your life. I told my wife to stop giving to them. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Yes, I made the mistake of giving to them once and now they won't leave us alone, even though we repeatedly have told them on the phone that we will not give them anything and to remove us from our list. Going to their website and filling out the "do not call" form will probably lead to more calls and selling your name to other companies. I've read reports about these types of operations. Many are illegal, have nothing to do with the "charity" they claim to represent, and when they are found out, pack up, and move to another city to start again. Quote
Joe G Posted August 15, 2006 Author Report Posted August 15, 2006 Xentel is a little more high profile than that, though they have had some legal actions taken against them, according to a Google search I did. I can't imagine getting more calls than I already do. Quote
Noj Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Rule of thumb for phone spammers--there's almost always a pause after you say hello before they respond. They use speed dialers which dial multiple numbers at once. Never say hello twice, just hang up if no one responds the first time. If the spammer does get through, interrupt and say, "I do not respond to telephone solicitations. Good bye." Then hang up. Quote

The Magnificent Goldberg Posted August 15, 2006 Report Posted August 15, 2006 Best bet is to waste their time. I have plenty; they're trying to earn money. It really pisses them off. MG Quote
Joe G Posted September 6, 2006 Author Report Posted September 6, 2006 Update: I have not had any calls (that I know of) since sending them that email. Quote
