Guest Chaney Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 While visiting the BN site () -- and just prior to my nightly thirty minute stare at the defunct board (it's coming back I tell ya! ) - I spotted a link to the EMI site established to help locate artists owed royalties. Have a look at the list. When's the last time you saw any of these folks? Any ideas? EMI Missing Royaltors Quote
J Larsen Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Well one of the first people on their list, George Adams, has been residing in the next world for about 10 years now... Quote
J Larsen Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 George Wallington and Julius Watkins have some dough coming their ways as well! Ditto Gene Ammons and Meade Lux Lewis. Okay, I'm going to find something better to do now... Quote
JSngry Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Are Victor Bailey, Bobby Bland, Ralph Burns, Terri Lynne Carrington, Charlie Mariano, and Bill Perkins THAT hard to find? Quote
John L Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Part of the problem is that a number of the listed people are probably camping out together: George Adams Tina Brooks Serge Chaloff Bill Coleman Bob Crosby Sidney DeParis Frankie Newton Peppermint Harris Wynonie Harris Erskine Hawkins Edmond Hall Pete Johnson, Baby Face Willette etc., etc. Sounds like they made a sincere effort to locate these people though. I mean, who would suspect that Carla Thomas might have her own web site or something with an E-mail contact address? It just boggles the mind. Quote
JSngry Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 I just called Pete Gallio, who has done clinic work with Bill Perkins in the recent past, and told him that Perk had some money coming due him. Well, I actually told Pete's answering machine, but six of one... Quote
Christiern Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 Could you give Ferde Grofe a call while you're at it? Quote
bertrand Posted August 8, 2003 Report Posted August 8, 2003 (edited) Some of these artists are published by Don Sickler's company, Second Floor Music. I don't understand how hard it is to find out who to pay royalties to. Bertrand. Edited August 8, 2003 by bertrand Quote
James Posted August 12, 2003 Report Posted August 12, 2003 As Jim pointed out, just how difficult would it be to track down a performer like Bobby "Blue" Bland? Give me a break. A local trumpeter/friend ultimately received a windfall the moment he joined the union --- a label he recorded for found him. But just a couple of phone calls to L.A. based former associates could have located him years before - hell, just calling the other guys he recorded with!! I'd just better sign off now before I start spinnin'.................... Quote
mikeweil Posted August 15, 2003 Report Posted August 15, 2003 If they are calling for so many musicians that have left us many years ago, does that mean they are looking for their heirs or does it show their total ignorance for musicians' biographies? Quote
