Rooster_Ties Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 (edited) Some googling, and this appears to be the magician's site, below. Her name (or stage name) is Ursula Martinez. Best as I can tell, she appears to be a serious performance artist -- and although there is some nudity here and there, non of it is the least bit graphic. http://www.ursulamartinez.com Edit: And here's the page about the act in question... Hanky Panky is a five minute choreographed magic strip-tease. The act uses a simple disappearing handkerchief conjuring trick at its core. Martinez enters stage fully clothed. She performs the trick and the hanky disappears. It reappears from her jacket pocket. The jacket is removed. The hanky disappears again and reappears from her skirt. The skirt is removed. During the course of the act, Martinez continues to make the handkerchief disappear and re-appear from her various items of clothing, which she then removes. Finally Martinez is completely naked. Once again she performs the trick and the handkerchief disappears. With a grand finale flourish, Martinez retrieves the handkerchief from a truly magical place? QUOTES (see PRESS for full articles) 'Ursula Martinez takes the genre of comedy magic and makes it entirely her own, incontrovertibly proving that it's not what you do, it's the way that you do it. Rooster_Ties Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 (edited) Hey Roos, if you examine Jim's link, it tells us her name. Just noticed that now -- and if only I'd noticed earlier, I would have been spared a number of wrong sites that Google led me to. (At least that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it. ) Edited September 16, 2006 by Rooster_Ties Quote
JSngry Posted September 16, 2006 Author Report Posted September 16, 2006 She sets fire to her tits, interrogates her parents, re-defines class, blurs fiction with reality, cures homosexuals, gives birth to penises, tells autobiographical stories, deconstructs performance and sings South London suburban flamenco - from high brow to low brow, from spectacle to confessional, from live art to light entertainment, Ursula Martinez produces solo and collaborative performance for theatre, site-specific, installation, cabaret, night club, film, television…… birthdays, weddings and Barmitzvahs! What, no yams? Quote
Harold_Z Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I gotta say...... Ursala has me smiling all weekend. I went to the gig last night - picked up my bass- and started playing the bass line to "A Shot In The Dark" to check the amp. Everybody in the band smiled. I showed the video to my wife and she cracked up. I find myself smiling and it's becase I'm thinking of this routine. Thanks Jim. Quote
