porcy62 Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 (edited) I am crazy because I am overwhelmed of papers: instructions, warranties, gas bills, car insurances, mobile phone bills, internet providers bills, bank account reports...and they grown, I suspect they reproduced themselves: the instruction of the Fridge fuck with the lastest gas bill...I want a gallons of petrol and a Zippo lighter Edited October 13, 2007 by porcy62 Quote
mikeweil Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 My desk looks similar. Just take it outside before you put it on fire, yes? No need to burn up the LP/CD collection along with it ... Quote

Jim Alfredson Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 In this day and age there is no reason to have paper bills at all. Do internet payments. Makes everything much easier. Quote

Aggie87 Posted October 13, 2007 Report Posted October 13, 2007 In this day and age there is no reason to have paper bills at all. Do internet payments. Makes everything much easier. I pay online when they allow me to make one-time EFT payments (phone bill, electric bill, utility bill, auto insurance, and some others). I don't like setting up payments where it automatically comes out of your bank account on a certain day, without you being in charge of the transaction. For those bills (in my case, one credit card and my mortgage payment), I pay those by check. Everything else is paid online though. Quote

I pay everything on line, or through my bank account, BUT they have to send me a paper receipt, usually three or four pages about what and why I payed. The bank have to send me a paper account of almost every operations, CC included. Plus, in Italy the warranty should report the receipt of payment. Even if you buy a sofa, that has a one year warranty, you should keep all this paper stuff for at least one year. And what about every damn electronic and electric stuff you have at home: fridge, stereo, washing machine, tv, computer, printer...you name it, instructions... and warranty I tried to keep low the shit of papers, but I lost. porcy62 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 Ah yes, usually the instruction's booklets are in twentyfour different languages, so for a shaver you have a booklet, that is more or less, half the size of the first edition of "Moby Dick". Quote

Yes indeed! But even worse are the instructions that have no words, only indecipherable diagrams. And you have to keep them, in case you ever need to take them apart. MG Quote
MoGrubb Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 re: e-bills I've paid all monthly statements and biannual auto insurance, e.g. water, electric, auto insurance, internet, credit card, etc., via electronic funds transfer, including bank draft, for the past four or five years without any hassle. robviti Posted October 14, 2007 Report Posted October 14, 2007 many owner's manuals are available online. you could download them and save them on your hard drive or on the removable storage device of your choice. if you have a scanner, you can save bills, receipts, and manuals in a similar fashion. My problems is not the room. Is big number of the stuff and archival them. And your suggestion is nice, but it means even more job on the paper. On-line manuals are nice for a lot of things, basically all hardware related with computer is on-line, or on the cd-rom with drivers, but when you are in the kitchen trying to repairs the dishwasher, you don't like looking for stuff on the computer with your wet and dirty hands. Just another reason why the US is better than Italy....... Edited October 14, 2007 by BERIGAN Quote
