Here is an example:

9751675.jpg

Tracks:

01. "Let's March"

02. "Professor"

03. "Tel Aviv"

04. "Let Me Tell You"

05. "One For Tubby"

06. "Swing Till The Girls Come"

07. "One Morning In May"

08. "Chasin' The Bird"

09. "When The Sun Comes Out"

A mixture of tracks from Prestige and Riverside LPs, but no session is complete. The material was recorded in 1957, so it's public domain now in Europe. They're jumping at the Concord catalogue, but with no sense of direction. I will avoid this series.

Other titles:

1. Garner, Erroll "Moonglow"

2. Davis, Miles "Peacocks"

3. Burrell, Kenny "Delilah"

4. Modern Jazz Quintet "Yesterdays"

5. Modern Jazz Quartet "Before Venice"

6. Mann, Herbie "Smoke"

7. Blakey, Art "The Messenger"

8. Davis, Miles "September Song"

This mixup of different sessions that are not complete of course is not satisfactory for today's collectors (are there any out there who are NOT completists? ;)) but if the entire Prestige etc. label conglomerate and their OJC reissues were handled with more sense by Concord then this would not happen that easily.

Seems like Concord is intent on quitting the field. No wonder others are jumping up to cash in even in this niche market.

BTW - these tracks being PD now means these reissues are NOT bootlegs by European standards. So as long as they are marketed inside Europe everything is cool.

isn't that assuming that they pay the mechanicals and publishing? WHich I have great doubts about -

on the other hand, if I was in the desert with CHEWY and had a CD player and no cds and came upon a CD store that only had these bootlegs, than I would kill Chewy and eat him for food -
