I've been slinking quick looks over here, in the intervals between helping my missus prepare the lavish buffet for the family (too many people, not enough table space). Now relaxing with a glass of port after the morning's labours.

(We usually go to our daughter's, but they don't want us chucking food over the carpet, since they're in a rented place while they're building their new house.)

It may sound harsh, distant and cold, but to me Christmas is no different than Labor Day or Canada's day it is just an excuse to have a day off and have time to do what i enjoy the most. Among those things hanging around this board.

I have not been very present the last few weeks, so i have time to get back on top of things, plus it gives me time to go through my baclklog of CDs to listen.

For my money the Ray Charles Atlantic set kicks the butt of any freakin' tune that we are supposed to play at this time of the year.

Christmas Day always seems so "end of the road" to me, but it is very different for me than Labor Day, etc.... I enjoy the Christmas Season, and the build-up of it all. The Day itself is usually an anti-climax. I guess we have to find our own fun in the holiday and choose to make the best of the season---or not.

I'm here because wife and baby are still sleeping and I'm waiting for the coffee pot to finish.

I'm generally a happy go lucky kind of guy and i prefer to enjoy myself more in the quotidianity(not sure that's a real word) of our every day life than having a celebration forced down our throats.

Will be hitting the road for a family 'do' a bit later but just calling in here with glass of wine in hand and Mosaic Hodges 56-61 set blaring away and doing its magic. Roast Welsh lamb in the oven. :)

Dillema at 3pm. Watch Her Maj on TV or listen to more Mosaic?

Been up since 4am and am waiting for everyone else to wake up. Nice to have some extra time to myself and to catch up on some tunes. It would be even better if my iPod hadn't crapped out yesterday. I lost 130GB of music and movies, and have a week to go before I get home. At least I have a few GB of music on my laptop. *sigh*

Merry Christmas, everybody. :)

After Zora woke us up at 7am because she was yelling from her bedroom that she had to go potty (she didn't want to come out of her bedroom, in case Santa was still here), we opened presents.

Since then, I've been working on these:

I'm sorry you see it that way. Sounds a bit too negative for my tastes, but I'm sure you have reasons for the way you feel.

I see a lot of other things forced down my throat, but, as you say, we focus on having time to do the things we enjoy the most.

Been up since 4am too, and the kids tore that tree apart for about an hour straight. Started the turkey at 9am, ate at 2pm and my wife and I are enjoying a great bottle of wine and watching "A Christmas Story" with the kids. Overall, a great holiday!

A great afternoon! James built his Lego Pirate Ship, then he and Lawrence played their new Wii Olympics game. I managed to only fall into a post-prandial sleep twice while listening to my son-in-law drone on about planning permission for their new house; but amazed everyone by carrying on a conversation at the time. We all ate too much, except the kids, of course, who had presents to deal with. I don't 'arf feel FAT!

All gone on to Bernard's mother's now.

Phew!

Since then, I've been working on these:

Oh man! You're a cruel man, Alfredson.

Yes I am. And I would just like to say that the lemon meringue pie in the photo was my first attempt and it turned out picture perfect. I'm also eating a piece right now, with some extra whipped cream on the side (just to be decadent) and it is really delicious!
