There is a Borders located right next to my barber, where I have a haircut appointment for Saturday morning (my monthly haircut is really the only time I stop at that Borders). So, with the 30% off coupon in hand, I figure to buy one, and only one disc while I am down in Fort Lauderdale.

Which shall it be? These are the top items I've had my eye on, and I am presuming that all will be in stock.

I'm guessing that the Horace will be a runaway favorite, though I have had my eye on the Person disc since it came out last year.

Dan, you've been into the blues for the past year. Do you need another BB King?

Its definitely been longer than that, and no I'm not thrilled by the idea of a recent B.B. King concert document. But if someone got it for me I wouldn't be unhappy. Actually there's a recent DVD available on Amazon that is a 1990 or so concert and apparently a pretty good one. I'd put that up as an option except that I am sure its not in stock at this Borders.

Are you going to get your hair cut like Horace's?

My Fort Lauderdale haircut (from 10 days ago) looks about as good on me as Horace's would. :bwallace2: :bwallace:

I don't think I'll be changing hairstyles, to Horace or anyone else's, very soon. ;)

But I do like my man Steve's work so much that ever since we moved to Palm Beach county I haven't hesitated to drive forty minutes to keep using him.

Well, as I expected to anyway, I went for the Horace Silver - with great surprise at the fact that it was priced at $17.99. :o

But I guess BN figured "its new, no one's heard it, let's get what we can."

And I couldn't help myself and went for another disc ... Johnny Adams, The Blues Album. And I listened to that one first! Couldn't help myself, after hearing his Room with a View of The Blues I've really wanted to hear more of the "Tan Canary". Amazing pipes.

But oh yeah, I did listen to the Silver disc and it certainly is a terrific recording. Louis Smith steals the show, imo. Really unfortunate that he didn't record for so long after.

Dan, it sounds like you made the right decision. I hope to purchase the Silver release soon. Hearing alot of great things about this one. Also count me as another big admirer of Johnny Adams. The guy had one heck of a voice. Check this release out when you get the opportunity.

thanks Tom. I had no idea what I was in for when I found a cheap, excellent condition of the Room with a View LP. His voice with Mayfield's tunes sounds like a match made in heaven. Speaking of, hearing "Neither One Of Us (wants to be the first to say goodbye)" on Room made me think what a shame it was that he never got a chance to sing that with Gladys. That would have been amazing.

:excited:

Please go back to the Julia Luis Dreyfus photo, or find someone less repellent than Christina. Like Lindsay Lohan in rehab.

I suggest some books.

Thanks for the suggestion, Chuck, but right after New Years the History Book Club had a "everything priced at $9.95 sale" with free shipping over $25. I bought ten books for a grand total of just under $100 and saved something like $200 off of list price. So I won't be shopping for books for quite some time.
