Once you download his .rar files, you'll need to extract them back to the MP3 format, then you can burn them to disc if you want.

I have found that you can fool Rapidshare and download again and again. Simply close the Rapidshare browser window. Turn off or unplug/replug your cable or dsl modem. When it cranks back up again, Rapidshare won't know that you just downloaded a file and will allow you to download the next file immediately.

Conrad, I'd say you should post the download links as soon as you can since March was supposed to be your month. You can always open up the discussion threads after you've mailed discs to those who request them. Also, if you've compressed your files, be sure to post a link where people who don't know have the capability of decompressing rar files can go for the software.

Ah, interesting about unplugging the DSL modem...I seemed to have a problem uploading after completing one part, so I would just go to another browser which seemed to work....I should check that out for downloading as well....easier on my back if nothing else...

I sent the links to King Ubu, so if he doesn't find any major issues, I'll put the links up here later today....and will mail out the discs to the two people(So far) that would rather have the discs...funny, after never having a cd not burn right, I have had 4 out of 8 discs fail to complete! Don't know if it's just a bad batch(In the middle of a stack of Memorex blanks) or if it's my cd burner....

Dan, good point about pointing folks to..... http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm page. Hadn't thought of that.

I see a few user interfaces....graphic and command line, and graphic only....I am not kidding when I say I am clueless about this stuff, can someone mention what might be the best all around one, or if folks with Macs might have a problem with command line only? I don't even know which free version I have. :winky: (Well, just checked, evaluation copy)

WinRAR 3.71 Graphic and command line Trial 1178 KB

RAR 3.71 for Pocket PC Graphic only Free 263 KB

RAR 3.71 for Linux Command line only Trial 759 KB

RAR 3.71 for FreeBSD Command line only Trial 730 KB

RAR 3.71 for Mac OS X Command line only Trial 607 KB

RAR 3.71 for MS DOS <info> Command line only Trial 647 KB

Will we be able to put the download thing into a proper CD so we can listen to it on a regular CD player, i'm old fashion that way, plus i'm not found of listening to music with my computer's speakers, they're reliable to watch sports but that's about it.

Sure, just send me a PM with your Address!

There's a way around the delay in downloading for free at Rap*dsh*re.

Download one file for free. Then delete your browser's cookies and reset your modem (just click it off and back on).

Your modem will probably reconnect in less than five minutes. Then you can download another file.

Repeat process for each new download until you're done.

Take that, Rap*dsh*are!

Maybe i have misread him but according to Dan, there is a way to take the files into the computer and put them ourselves into a CD. You have gone to all this trouble to take the time to participate , choosing the music and all the techno stuff that comes with it and i say thank you. So i'll try to do the rest without giving you more work and avoid having to spend money on shipping fees.

all you have to do is: open the first file (with winrar - free download on www.rarlab.com, the trial version will remain fully working except for a pop-up that will appear after a few weeks), hit the "extract" button, choose the location, and in that folder you'll find the single tracks as WMA-files. You should be able to burn them, or put them onto an MP3 playing device, or in the worst case you're at least able to play them on the computer if you can't figure out the rest...

I just finished downloading disc one and disc two is in progress right now. It will be a day or two before I have time to start checking out the music. I'm looking forward to it.

EDIT: The files won't unpack for me. I'm getting "corrupt file" and "unexpected end of archive" in WinRar. Don't know if the problem is in the files or on my end. I'll try later to download them again.

SECOND EDIT: Same deal on the second try. Granted, this is a white elephant PC with Windows 2000, but I've successfully downloaded other WinRar archives, so there's a distinct possibility that the files are corrupted. Just as long as we're not corrupted all will work out in the end ;)

Uh-oh! I tried last night to download part 3's from each disc...but the download just stopped midway...I'll try again.....

When you uploaded these to RapidShare did you use WinRar to automatically split them into less than 100mb per file? That's the maximum capacity for one RS URL. If you have one CD in three parts they should unpack together on download and you will end up with the complete contents of the CD in one folder. You have to start by unpacking part one; WinRar should automatically continue on to parts two and three.

Yes, I used WinRar to split the files into 100 MB or less(KU learned me about that)

When downloading porn other media in the past, I was not able to play just part one, like you said, you needed all of it. I can download a part of this, like part 3(It downloaded fine today, unlike Friday night) extract it to a folder, and play the songs one by one, by clicking on each file, if I want to(But, why would you want to?) I am an expert at smashing square pegs in round holes.

perhaps since I still have the original music files on my computer,(And a good thing if a file or two ended up getting corrupted somehow) that's why I can play them? All I know is, I'm sleepy, and this is making my head hurt!

First part of disc one unpacked with an error message, although it all seemed to be fine (7 tracks?)

Part two is refusing to unpack at all.

Not tried the others yet.

Ok, thing is, this is ONE file, split up automatically into three each. So you can't unpack the second or third, usually, but you have to grab ALL THREE files, then open the first, hit extract, and ALL the tracks from all three files will unpack!

It worked perfectly well for me, with these same links/files - I don't think anything could have happened to these files after you'd put them up to RS, Berigan!

That can happen for whatever reason, losing connection, RS having a server down for an hour while you're in the midst of downloading - just delete the partial file and try again later!

Duh! I'm an idiot. Thanks, Ubu

Yep, all three parts downloaded and unpacked together, no problem.

BTW, track 20 still seems to have its artist tag. Not that it's helped.

Hm, I only noticed that on #1 of disc two, but then I quickly overwrote all the tags, not to spoil any fun... won't be that useful anyway, having some info, when most of what Berigan shares here will be new to most of us...

Both discs downloaded, Disc One fully extracted and burnt, no problems anywhere. :tup :tup :tup :tup :tup

A friendly suggestion, though - a consistent file-naming formula (including spacing between characters) makes it a lot easier to transfer files between programs, as does calling some thing "01" instead of just "1". A minor hassle to correct, though.

On my fourth try, the first four tracks of each CD downloaded okay. Otherwise, still the same deal as before. I have to surmise that the digital gremlins are at play on this end of the connection. A stone-age PC and Windows 2000 probably don't help :o

Well, I made some discs thinking more people would want them shipped, so I will mail you out the pair. I have enough coasters as it is! ^_^
