GA Russell Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 I got "58% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category". My parents were both from Boston, so I'm not surprised that my score was so low. But I was surprised by the number of my answers that were rated "Michigan/Great Lakes" beause I have never lived in that area. (I have a vague recollection of taking this quiz before, so forgive me if this has been posted here some time in the past.) http://www.angelfire.com/ak2/intelligencer...dixie_quiz.html Quote
BruceH Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 Yankee. But then it said "Barely into the Yankee category." How dare they? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 66% Dixie. You can take the boy out of the South, but.... Quote
BeBop Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 55% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category. ...in case you were wondering how a 'non-American' would score... Quote
Big Al Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 67% Dixie, which surprised me because my answers were all over the map! Quote
Stereojack Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 This test is bullshit. I got 57% (Dixie) Barely into the dixie category. I have lived in the Northeast my entire life, although I don't have a pronounced New England accent. Quote
Noj Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 50% (Yankee). Barely into the Yankee category. Might be accurate, seeing as I've never lived in the Northeast or the Southeast (or even visited). Quote
paul secor Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 52% (Dixie) - Think I've been below the Mason-Dixon line once in my life. Maybe I've listened to too many blues and country records. (That's assuming this test has any validity.) Quote
Dan Gould Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 58%, though I noticed a lot of the answers seemed to be Great Lakes or Ohio or Northeast (I was born in Chicago, my Mother is from Ohio and from the age of 5 I grew up in the Northeast. But I did go to school in Tallahassee (the southernmost deep South city) and later in Columbia, SC. And I call them tennis shoes because that is what I use them for. Quote
JSngry Posted May 23, 2008 Report Posted May 23, 2008 53% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category. The test is bogus. Can I be a uniter? Quote
vajerzy Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 46% Yankee- I grew up in NJ and been in VA for 15 years- so I don't belong anywhere. I got all the NJ stuff right (I think)- Mischief Night and Sneakers! I'm damn proud to be from NEW JERSEY! They should have added: The war from 1861 to 1865 is called: The Civil War The War between the States The War of Northern Aggression The Great Unpleasantness I've heard them all in Virginia Quote
Randy Twizzle Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 I got all the NJ stuff right (I think)- Mischief Night and Sneakers! In my little section of northern NJ the night before Halloween has always been known as Goosey Night. Quote
BERIGAN Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 55% dixie...guess that happens from living 16 years in the Midwest, 25 in the south... Quote
Shawn Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 My answer: 91% (Dixie). Is General Lee your father? Not really surprised, lived most of my life south of the Manson/Nixon line. Quote

7/4 Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 53% (Dixie). Barely into the Dixie category. Of course. I'm in Central Jersey, not South Jersey. Those people talk funny. Quote
Spontooneous Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 79% Dixie, y'all. Anybody who tries to tell you that Kansas City is the Gateway to the West is trying to whitewash that it's really a neglected orifice of the South. Quote
Van Basten II Posted May 24, 2008 Report Posted May 24, 2008 What the heck i ended up 65% (Dixie). A definitive Southern score! Quote
