David Ayers Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 (edited) Europadisc has reductions on Verve box sets including three Euromosaics (Basie, Farlow, Nelson). Amazon.co.uk has similar prices on Basie, Farlow, Nelson. Not as low as previous bargains, and not so many titles, but UK residents might be interested. Edited September 12, 2008 by David Ayers Quote
sidewinder Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 still no Buddy Rich Yeah. That one is turning out to be elusive as a 'deal'. As is the Quincy Jones. Quote
king ubu Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 still no Buddy Rich Yeah. That one is turning out to be elusive as a 'deal'. As is the Quincy Jones. I scored lucky withthe Q - or relatively lucky. Found it at a local shop (the European Universal edition of course) for about the prize Mosaic is selling it or somewhat less. No shipping, no possible taxes, so I didn't complain. Same deal I got on the Dizzy, but those two were the first ones to turn up at acceptable prizes. They have Selects now and then, but those they're selling for twice the Mosaic prize... Quote
J.A.W. Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) still no Buddy Rich Yeah. That one is turning out to be elusive as a 'deal'. The owner of a CD store in Austria told me yesterday that Universal Europe deleted the Buddy Rich set some time ago and that it's been hard to find ever since, so I guess you'll have to get it from Mosaic if you really want this one. Really? As a Euro-Mosaic that one must have come and gone in a pico-second ! Quote

Really? That's what he told me and there seems to be some truth in it, otherwise Amazon would normally be selling them but as far as I know they're only available from sellers on Amazon Marketplace. sidewinder Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Thanks for the info ! Looks like it's back on the Mosaic US list for this one. Quote
king ubu Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Yes, thanks for the info. No problem in buying from Mosaic at all - still I was hoping for a good deal, safer as far as custom taxes go, etc... Anyway, does that mean the Euro contingent sold extremely fast, or does it mean that they deleted it quickly because of a total lack of interest? Quote
sidewinder Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 They must have had a production run of 20 copies. Never saw them on sale here ! Quote

tranemonk Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 I thinking about that George Shearing set... anybody got that one? Or thoughts about it? thanks Quote
jazzbo Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 It's good. Surprisingly so. May be expensive though. Quote
tranemonk Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 $34.00 including shipping to the US... Good price.. I took a chance.. and snagged it... Hope I don't regret it... It's good. Surprisingly so. May be expensive though. Quote

There was a seller on Half.com or Amazon (I don't remember which) that was selling still-sealed Rich sets for around $65.00 delivered about a year ago. I wasn't even in the market for it but I couldn't pass it up and grabbed one anyway. They went pretty quick. Still haven't seen a deal on the Gillespie Universal anywhere. Quote
David Ayers Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 I get the impression that apart from the three titles on amazon.co.uk the other euromosaics are OOP. That's just an impression but over time they disappeared from amazon. Maybe like regular Mosaic they don't necessarily issue the whole run - i.e. these are slow movers so when they get to the end of a batch they maybe decide not to reprint. Just an uneducated guess... No charges for my last two orders although they both exceeded $100.... But they don't offer surface shipping for orders over 100$ any longer - or have they changed back again? In fact, surface packages much more often went through without taxes for me as well, but since Mosaic changed their policy of shipping, I don't have much of a choice with most orders... the most annoying one was three Selects plus two Singles and 35 or more $ of taxes on that... the taxes themselves are only two thirds, the rest goes directly to the postal services for them having to cash in the money... they ask for roughly 12$ (12 CHF) for that here, crazy!
